FROM DC in September: SHAZAM!: THE MONSTER SOCIETY OF EVIL DELUXE EDITION HC
written by OTTO BINDER art by C.C. BECK and PETE COSTANZA cover by MICHAEL CHO At first he was simply a disembodied voice on the radio, taunting Captain Marvel with his ever-more-fiendish schemes to conquer the world. Then, readers gasped as Mr. Mind was revealed—all two inches of him! Was this lowly creature really the epitome of evil he claimed to be? Fortunately, Billy Batson understood the folly of underestimating someone based on their size! As small as he was, Mr. Mind was big trouble—especially once he turned the menacing members of his Monster Society of Evil loose to wreak havoc! This new title collects the entire 24-chapter serial from the Golden Age of Comics with new essays by Fawcett Comics expert P.C. Hamerlinck and film producer and comics historian Michael Uslan.
Glad to see this getting re-solicited again.
I'll definitely be getting this and hoping it didn't get censored because of certain Golden Age stereotypes.
I'd like to read and relish this the way it was originally published.

Another bit of monkey business for shaxper and others who enjoy some banana shenanigans! As I recall from single issue purchases at the time, these were some quite good POA comics by creators who truly loved the POA concepts and wanted to make something special. It is a wonderful time to be a POA fan as there are some truly wonderful series being done up these days. Wish I had this much comic fun to have enjoyed back in the 70's and 80's!!! Planet of the Apes: Before the Fall Omnibus Paperback – May 21, 2019 . by Gabriel Hardman (Author, Illustrator), Corinna Bechko (Author) Amazon pre-order $39.99 Twenty years before an Astronaut named Taylor fell from the stars, the Planet of the Apes is gripped with a cataclysmic crisis between Apes and Man! Ape society is in flux. The rigid caste system is breaking down. Humans can't speak and are considered animals, but are tolerated in the City. Scientific curiosity is smashing old taboos. But not everyone is happy with the new status quo. When an Ape general named Aleron discovers that the Lawgiver’s most sacred commandment—Ape Does Not Kill Ape—has been broken, he unwittingly unlocks a vast conspiracy deep in Ape City that will upend society, and all of history. On the run and faced with unspeakable betrayal, Aleron crosses paths with Doctor Zaius, Zira, Cornelius, and others as he journeys into the heart of the Forbidden zone to discover the truth. Collected together for the first time in one prestigious omnibus, experience the entire critically-acclaimed Apes saga from Gabriel Hardman (Green Lantern) and Corinna Bechko (Star Wars: Legacy), and celebrated illustrators Marc Laming (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Damian Couceiro (Old Man Logan). Features Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes, Exile on the Planet of the Apes, and Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm. Be careful, someone might notify DE Sinclair and his anti-banana league and place you on their watch list. -M You just notified us. They'll be hearing from our lawyers. Or I suppose that should be just "lawyer". Once we get one. Anybody what to volunteer?

Well, at this point it seems like the Tarzan: The Buscema Years Omnibus that Dynamite has been teasing us with for several years now will probably never get published. Since I've had it on pre-order in mid-2017 its publication date has got pushed back three times. Last summer (July 2018) when the pub. date was pushed back again, I even received an e-mail from Amazon asking me if I was still interested in purchasing the item, which I confirmed, and after that the release date was set for January 8, 2019 - that day has come and gone, and this time I didn't even get the automated e-mail asking if I still want it. When you visit the Amazon page for this book, up top it still indicates that it will be published, well, yesterday, while below, "July 9, 2019" is written next to the publisher's name - I guess that's the supposed new release date. Right. It's too bad this wasn't handled like the Warlord of Mars omnibus when the John Carter movie was released, i.e., Marvel should have just published the Buscema years omnibus to coincide with the release of the Tarzan movie a while back.

Yeah, eventually someone will get this done, hopefully before I retire and can't afford the darn thing. Truly sad that a company can base publication on possible "pre-order" quantities/sales and pull the plug on printing it. This is where you wonder why the Burrough's estate won't step in and "push" harder for Dynamite to get this out or get another company doing so. Dynamite hasn't been the "best fit" for ERB comics IMO as they are more inclined to push the "naughty" pin up girl characters while not devoting proper attention to the big names. If you don't think they will sell, then why pay for the rights if you won't commit to publishing them? Dynamite has been hit and miss with ALL of their classical series from The Shadow,Doc Savage, Tarzan, John Carter, Flash Gordon/Mandrake/Phantom, Vampirella, etc. For every good issue or thing they do it seems there is just as much in failure. Too much "fan-boy" stuff and inconsistent/amateurish looking art and writers who don't "GET" the characters and are more interested in changing/inserting them all to suit/what they "think" the characters should be like.

O.k., this is weird. With reference to my above comment, I just received an e-mail from Amazon a few minutes ago in which they inform me of the following: "We have good news! We now have delivery date(s) for your item(s) listed below. We’ll send a confirmation when your items ship. If you would like to view the status of your entire order or make any changes to it, please visit Your Orders on Amazon.com. (...) "Your new estimated delivery date is: Thursday, February 28, 2019 - Wednesday, April 17, 2019."
Which would normally mean the publication has only been pushed back about a month. Can't really tell if this is another B.S. automated response or it actually signifies something - I've never before received a delivery estimate for this particular order. However, when I visit the listing for the book at Amazon, everything's the same as before - same two publication dates I mentioned above, and, most tellingly, still no cover art. So I'll believe it when the package gets delivered to my door...

This usually means (but not always) that the item is set for release. Had this occur with several Archie comics collections (the Sabrina black and white digest and Adam Hughes Betty/Veronica TPB) and Fantagraphic's Disney Collections where they actually shipped. So hope remains eternal. Ungawa Tantor Ungawa!

Cool, I'm glad something besides the spendy Masterworks HC is being published, although the $40 price tag is still a bit steep for me. I'll probably wait and then shop around for cheaper copies on secondary markets.

Know, O prince, that in the year 1970 there was an age undreamed of, when a black haired, sullen eyed, thief, a reaver, a slayer with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth walked into the comic book world.
Amazon delivery yesterday of the Conan the Barbarian Omnibus collecting issues 1-26. This is one big and gorgeous book full of Cimmerian goodness. Includes B/W full issue reprints of The Frost Giant's Daughter and Dweller in the Dark from Savage Tales showing off BWS glorious line work. Includes LOTS of Roy the Boy Thomas writings about the publishing of Conan back in the day. Very long introduction and back of the book collects all his historical writings from the Classic Conan 12 issue reprints. Also many pages of the original BWS art showing off his then learning skills and opposing pages as inked by Sal Buscema and Frank Giacoia. Pages of artwork and writing revisions to meet then current comic codes. It is a really great book. I only ever had 2 issues of the original BWS and have the B/W Essential Conan so this will be one slow read so I can absorb as much of the barbarian love that I can.
This one is truly worth the extra pennies by Crom! Looking forward to the adventure...
