John Stanley: Giving Life To Little Lulu by Bill Schelly Biography of writer/artist John Stanley. I've read Schelly's "Man of Rock" his bio of Joe Kubert and it was a good read. So am definitely hopeful about this one. His bio of Harvey Kurtzman was excellent as well. I kind've wish this were a straight bio rather than a "coffee table book," but I guess I can budget for it between now and March.

This JSA collection was on pre-order before with Amazon and then pulled and now being listed once more. A truly fun and respectful run of the Golden Age team supreme. While i prefer TPB's this is one I will break down for buying the Hardcover version. Will complement my silver age collections of Doom Patrol and Adam Strange quite nicely.
Justice Society of America: The Complete Series by Len Strazewski and Mike Parobeck Hardcover – May 15, 2018. $49.99 The world's first super-team reunited for these stories set in 1950, including the original Flash, Green Lantern, the Atom, Hawkman and more.
The 1990s adventures of the Justice Society of America are collected for the first time ever in JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA: THE COMPLETE SERIES BY LEN STRAZEWSKI AND MIKE PAROBECK!
Set in 1950 as the Golden Age of comics was coming to a close, these stories were originally published in the early 1990s and star the world's first super-team: the Justice Society of America! The Flash (Jay Garrick), Green Lantern (Alan Scott), Hawkman (Carter Hall), Black Canary and Starman each face a series of criminal events that point to the evil of Vandal Savage. And in facing their immortal foe, the heroes realize that the world still needs a Justice Society of America. And in a second helping of adventures from 1992, the JSA brings back more Golden Age heroes, including the Atom (Al Pratt), Wildcat (Ted Grant), Hourman, Johnny Quick, Hawkgirl and more to battle the villainy of the Ultra-Humanite and an international conspiracy that threatens to destabilize nations across the globe.

Ok, JSA was a mini-series and then an ongoing series that was about the length of the mini-series, right? Which one is this?

Ok, JSA was a mini-series and then an ongoing series that was about the length of the mini-series, right? Which one is this? From the write-up, it looks like it has both. The mini had rotating art teams for each issue (Burchett, Artis, Parobeck among them) and ran 8 issues, the follow up ran 10 and had Parobeck art all throughout. Len Strazewski wrote both series. So 18 issue sin a $50 hc. I'd be interested, but I have most of both series in floppy already and can probably get the rest much less expensively than the $50 msrp. -M edit to add: checked the actual Amazon listing, and yes it's all 18 issues in the hc

Some classic Ditko and Kane awesomeness listing on Amazon for pre-ordering:
$24.99 Hawk and Dove: The Silver Age Paperback – April 3, 2018
by Steve Ditko (Author)
The adventures of a superhero duo from the late 1960s are collected for the first time in HAWK & DOVE: THE SILVER AGE!
One of the most intriguing superhero duos ever star in this new trade paperback. Co-created in 1968 by legendary comics artist Steve Ditko (co-creator of Marvel's Spider-Man and Dr. Strange), the Hawk and the Dove are teenage brothers Don and Hank Hall. Gifted with super-powers by a mysterious voice, Hank became the Hawk and Don the Dove. Embodying the clashing political ideologies of the era Hank aggressively jumped into battling evil, while Don would refuse to fight, often resulting in losses. Along the way, the two attempted to clean up crime on the streets of their home town, face the threats of the gang known as the Drop Outs, took down a group of dangerous escaped convicts, and saved their father, a judge, from the wrath of a man he once sent to prison.
Collects SHOWCASE #75, THE HAWK AND THE DOVE #1-6 and TEEN TITANS #21.

Casey Ruggles is finally getting a new collection series. The western by Warren Tufts ran from 1949-1955, ending shortly after Tufts left the strip over a dispute with his syndicate. Tufts was known for his meticulous detail which led him to have to use numerous assistants and ghosts, including Nick Cardy, Ruben Moreira, Al Plastino and Alex Toth. Casey Ruggles Volume 1 is due out March 18 of next year. I hope this is successful and leads to Tufts' later western Lance getting a collection.
