Casey Ruggles is finally getting a new collection series. The western by Warren Tufts ran from 1949-1955, ending shortly after Tufts left the strip over a dispute with his syndicate. Tufts was known for his meticulous detail which led him to have to use numerous assistants and ghosts, including Nick Cardy, Ruben Moreira, Al Plastino and Alex Toth. Casey Ruggles Volume 1 is due out March 18 of next year. I hope this is successful and leads to Tufts' later western Lance getting a collection. Slam, have you seen "Godless" on Netflix? I have not. But now that I've looked at it...I probably need too. Probably after I finish The Punisher.

Ok, JSA was a mini-series and then an ongoing series that was about the length of the mini-series, right? Which one is this? From the write-up, it looks like it has both. The mini had rotating art teams for each issue (Burchett, Artis, Parobeck among them) and ran 8 issues, the follow up ran 10 and had Parobeck art all throughout. Len Strazewski wrote both series. So 18 issue sin a $50 hc. I'd be interested, but I have most of both series in floppy already and can probably get the rest much less expensively than the $50 msrp. -M edit to add: checked the actual Amazon listing, and yes it's all 18 issues in the hc And Bleeding Cool is reporting this trade has been cancelled and will not be appearing. Apparently it was also solicited in 2016 and was cancelled due to low preorders, and they were trying it again to drum up interest in an upcoming JSA project, but preorders were not up to snuff again, so it will not be appearing. -M

Not sure if it was mentioned. But Swamp Thing Winter's tale being released in Jan. A story by Len Wein that unfortunately he could not finish. It has Kelley Jones art. I think its a fitting tribute to Mr. Wein.

from ComicsBeat.com Jack Kirby & Wally Wood – In Color: Sky Masters of the Space Force Gets Collected There have been a number of Kirby projects this year, but here’s one that’s a little more unique. Amigos Comics is issuing a full color reprint of the Jack Kirby/Wally Wood (and the unrelated Wood brothers) comic strip, Sky Masters of the Space Force. For being produced by the Kirby/Wood team, this strip hasn’t had a lot of reprints and this appears to be the first full color offering of the Sunday strips. Official PR follows and then what you really want to see – some of the actual Sunday pages of the strip: The team at Amigos are honored to present a preview to one incredible and legendary book. Jack Kirby! Wallace Wood! Yes, here at Amigo Comics, edited by Ferran Delgado… SKYMASTERS! Just a week left to pre-order as the cutoff-date is dawning upon us, so this deserves to be mentioned again, pre-ordered preferably via your friendly neighborhood comic book dealer! Look for us in Diamond Previews! Jack Kirby, one of the greatest comic artists, was born 100 years ago this year and Geek Culture has reflected extensively on his comics career. A relentless entrepreneur with an indefatigable work ethic, Kirby was always trying new things. As you’d expect, he tried the newspaper comic route too. Kirby’s Sky Masters was his foray into the world of comic strips. It became a gorgeous looking strip with a crazy backstory. And then add another legendary artist, Wallace Wood, to the tale. Amigo Comics is bringing it back to the world for us all to enjoy, in a truly unique fashion. The background of the strip is as fascinating as the strip itself, because the consequences of what happened around it blacklisted Kirby, and pushed him over to Marvel. For the first time ever, it will display áll the Sundays with its original color by Kirby painstakingly remastered like if they were brand new. It took many months working full time to accomplish! Amigo Comics will publish about 90 panels never seen before. Furthermore, the Hardcover Book will include a large section with the original color guides painted by Kirby over stats, where you can enjoy the linework without any kind of distortion by printing. “It was the best work that both Kirby and Wood could do at their age, as they were at their peak, totally motivated to succeed in newspapers strips. They felt like it was a dream come true, and it was an opportunity that maybe would never show again, so they threw themselves on the project. Furthermore, the final art was more than the sum of the individuals, it’s something absolutely special and unrepeatable.” according to Ferran Delgado, the Project Editor. SkyMasters of the Space Force The Complete Sunday Scripts in Color. 1959-1960. Produced by renowned letterer and comic expert Ferran Delgado, with the collaboration of the Kirby Museum! We are immensely proud to present you this oversized deluxe book compiling for first time ever a complete set of Sunday pages of Jack Kirby and Wally Wood‘s Sky Masters of the Space Force, presented in meticulously remastered color along with dozens of never-before-reprinted scrapbook panels! It also contains plenty of extras, like twenty original color guides by Kirby himself, a huge section with original art, rare pieces and articles by main experts. SkyMasters has received a “Spotlight On” from Previews! ISBN Code: 978-84-16486-79-3 NOV171207 – STL069209 HC, 128 pages FC 32 pages FC

Otherwise, the release date for the Tarzan: Buscema Years omnibus (which I have on preorder) keeps getting pushed back. It's now apparently scheduled for July 2018... And now it's looking ever more likely that this book won't get released at all. I just checked my preorder page and now the delivery estimate is no longer July this year; instead, it just says "We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

Yeah, the Nathaniel Dusk volume is one of those 'about g**damn time' books - although I still think that together with Panther's Quest it should have been done over a decade ago, so Gene Colan could have seen some royalties while he was still alive...

Yeah, the Nathaniel Dusk volume is one of those 'about g**damn' books - although I still think that together with Panther's Quest it should have been done over a decade ago, so Gene Colan could have seen some royalties while he was still alive... It's only because they are using Dusk in one of their big event comics and think that will spur sales of the collection, not because they think it was overdue for the stories to be collected. -M
