You'll have to ask Brian, I have stayed away from script, casting and character details as much as possible so I would look at the trailers and (hopefully) the movies with fresh eyes. My wife pointed out the Tusken connection when we watched the trailer the first time and talked about it. I don't know who she is, but I liked the scene in the trailer with her.

She also appears to have a Tusken gaffi stick among her gear.... -M I wouldn't mind knowing who the character is in a PM or under a spoiler tag... She's Paula Muad'Dib!

I already saw hardcore fans pointing out FX errors in the trailer: there's a bit of machinery on the side of the speeder in that shot above, next to the girls's hands, and it vanishes as we see the speeder from the side.
That kind o' thing din't happen when we used proper models, nosiree!!!

One thing I'm assuming (Since I avoid spoilers) is that the new film will be set 32 years after Jedi to line up with how much Ford, Hamill and Fisher have aged. I'll say this now: I want ewok and wookie Jedi Knights. If this doesn't happen, I'll probably snap. They say it's set 30 years after the original trilogy which is about right. I'm a bit heated about a subject that I immediately noticed when I first saw this trailer on youtube, and maybe this topic needs it's own thread. But I can't believe how many racist comments have appeared regarding John Boyega as a Stormtrooper. Absolutely unbelievable. I find him to be a very interesting character, and he is one of the main stars of the trilogy. Why is color still an issue? To see all the racists calling him the N word on youtube and other sites is plain despicable. Then this morning I find CNN talking about this very same issue. We have a Black President, but once a Black Stormtrooper appears people have a problem? I like how Boyega tweeted, "Get used to it". Yeah, I don't get why its such a big deal either.

She also appears to have a Tusken gaffi stick among her gear.... -M I wouldn't mind knowing who the character is in a PM or under a spoiler tag... I'll send you a PM. I respect anyone that doesn't want to hear any potential spoilers and such. Although I'm usually the same way, I'm going the exact opposite direction this time around, mostly because this is the movie I've been waiting for since the end of RotJ. The prequel stories never interested me much, it was everything that happened after the original trilogy that I couldn't wait for. Quick little personal Lucasfilm story: My cousin was a secretary for Lucas from around 1991-1997 so I got to tour the Lucas Ranch a few times and see all of the props, sound stages, artwork etc. They were working on the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV show at the time, and I got to watch the plot episode in the huge THX theater on the Ranch. George himself sat right in front of us, and I got to say hello and shake his hand after the show. I also got to eat in the lounge and mingle with the Lucasfilm employees, all very nice and eager to share Star Wars stories. My cousin had one of the Yoda's used in one of the movies encased right there in her office. Nice benefit to living close to the Lucas Ranch and having an extended family member working there! Point I wanted to make is that I used to bug my cousin about telling me anything she could about the "future" trilogy. She was usually mum's the word, but on one occasion she shared a quick plot synopsis about a draft she had seen. She didn't say it would be a movie, but it involved events that occur several years after RotJ. In fact, this same plot she had told me about almost ended up in a different medium altogether. But that was cancelled, and although it's been rewritten by Lawrence Kasdan and J.J. Abrams, from what I can tell so far in the spoilers I've seen, that very same plot synopsis she told me all those years ago is still the basis behind the Force Awakens. If anyone is curious, let me know and I can send you a PM about what my cousin told me, and you can see if her plot synopsis matches up with what we see on the silver screen next year.

Yeah, I can't fathom that in the 21st Century there are still racist idiot Star Wars fans (!?) that are actually bothered by a stormtrooper being black? Have any of these people complained about Bill Dee Williams* being in charge of Cloud City or Sam Jackson being a Jedi Master?
*Besides, the moment Lando made his appearance in Empire was the precise moment that "The Sexy" was brought to the Star Wars universe. It's a documented fact.

I think because I was almost 6 when I saw Jedi, and it being the first Star Wars film I vividly remember seeing new, I've always had a soft spot for those adorable little balls of fur.

I think because I was almost 6 when I saw Jedi, and it being the first Star Wars film I vividly remember seeing new, I've always had a soft spot for those adorable little balls of fur. The Ewok's part in the original trilogy is absolutely pivotal and serves to once more underline, at the very climax of the trilogy, the triumph of the human (Ewok?) spirit over a technologically superior enemy. It's the same "David & Goliath" scenario that we witnessed during the Battle of Yavin in Episode IV -- during which Luke Skywalker is even robbed of R2-D2, to further reinforce the point that it's the human spirit alone against the technological -- but with the Ewoks and the Battle of Endor, it's taken to the extreme. You see this "primitive vs. sophisticated" theme again and again throughout the original trilogy and it is one of the basic tenants of Star Wars as modern mythology. I always suspect that Ewok haters are just folks who kinda missed the philosophical point of the entire saga.

I've never gotten the Ewok hate either, I mean everything about them is cool; they're cute little furballs and they live in tree forts so what's not to love?
