I need this book. It's on my wishlist. Be careful with Amazon, though, I just received an order of books from them today, and three of my books came in the same box. The box was bigger than the books, and the only protection was a couple of those plastic air pouch/pack things, tossed on top of the books. No protection on any of the sides or bottom. And one of my books was the Sandman Vol. 1 omnibus, so a pretty hefty book. The books are okay, but they did not have to travel far. Same thing happened to me before christmas... 3 HC in the same box, which was too big. One book was in really bad shape, I returned it and they sent a ne one... Really easy to return it too! Amazon is good about returns. I have Amazon Prime so I get free two-day shipping. I tend to order things so they aren't shipped at the same time simply to avoid them rubbing together in the boxes. And I'm not even all that concerned about condition.

And I'm not even all that concerned about condition. I have prime, too, and LOVE ordering from Amazon. I order everything from them. I normally do not care about condition for TPBs, but for HCs, I care a LOT more. And, yeah, now I will make sure my books are ordered separately, so they arrive in their own individually wrapped cardboard envelope/box thing.

If you're worried about condition, CheapGraphicNovels has excellent packaging. They're on Marketplace and even with the $4 shipping are still usually cheaper than Amazon. They have their own site, too.

Amazon has terrible packaging but great prices. It's a gamble, but yeah, they are easy about returns. I've only ever returned one HC but I'm not sure I ever got a single one without at least slightly dinged up corners. I'm not too worried about it as long as it's not too bad and the paper hasn't split wide open. I avoided them for my Usagi HC preorder because it's limited and I don't want to be stuck paying an inflated price on eBay after having to return a destroyed one on Amazon, but thinking of getting my Saga HC from Amazon and just hoping for the best.

They have their own site, too. Yes, their prices are really nice. I have been ordering from InStockTrades.com, and am quite pleased with their prices and their packaging. Amazon is just usually really convenient to order from. But they're not worth the risk for bigger books.

The next issue of Betty and Veronica features a variant cover by none other than the legendary Ramona Fradon!

So far, read Amazing X-Men (rubbish), Avengers 34.2 (poor), Avengers 40 (OK, but get to the point!), Spider-Verse 2 (get to the point, squared!), Captain Marvel 11 (rubbish), X-Force 14 (largely incomprehensible and shockingly bad art), Daredevil 12 (OK), Walking Dead 136 (OK, but the story is really dragging), Astro City 19 (OK, but I'm kind of losing interest).
All in all a pretty poor week so far, with SHIELD, FalCap and Ghost Rider to come.

Captain Marvel 11 was disappointing, largely because of the ending. Carol in action was cool, but she didn't save the day. Captain America 3 was pretty good, largely because of the retcon of a retcon. I'm liking Sam as Cap, and I wish he'd stick around a while. (Which he might do, if the rumors of the next Cap movie replacing Steve w/Sam are correct. But I doubt that.) Justice League United 8 (buying for the Legion) suffers from get-to-the-point-itis. Conan/Red Sonja 1 was okay. Doctor Who (10) 6 was okay, setting things up. S.H.I.E.L.D. 2 was okay, if you like Ms. Marvel. And the biggie, Star Wars 1, was pretty good. I spotted one panel of Han Solo that looked like a swipe; didn't look to see if there are others. And I think it's too soon for what happens on the last page. But I'll probably stick through the first arc, at least.
And my LCS was able to get that Jaxxon variant cover for me, for $25. I go to the other store around the block, and they have it for $10. Gotta shop around.

JLU #8 - On the one hand, this was probably my favorite issue so far, and Animal Man and Green Arrow were nowhere to be found. On the other hand, J'onn (my favorite character) got eight panels of failure and Stargirl (the other reason I buy the book) didn't even make an appearance. Oh,and it feels like Lemire would rather be writing LOSH than these characters. And despite being the best issue thus far it was still pretty boring.
Batgirl #38 - I mean, I like this book but following up a fake Batgirl arc with a fake Barbara arc has me skeptical.
Deathlok #4 - Stuff is finally starting to happen. I mean Deathlok's portion is still "Activate. Kill. Deactivate. Fail to bond with daughter," but at least Domino has found him.
Star Wars #1 - Unfamiliar with franchise, but I thought it was a really good first issue. Agree with jodoc about the last page seeming soon.
Captain Marvel #11 - Least favorite issue of DeConnick's run(s). The only thing I like less than Christmas issues/episodes are those that arrive after Christmas.
Thanos vs Hulk #2 - I may need to re-read this, because I feel like the book took a real weird turn this issue. Not sure how it'll wrap up without feeling way too rushed and/or a little decpetive at this point.
Silver Surfer #8 - Pretty much just setting up next issue's big deal showdown, but I still enjoyed it. The Allreds are untouchable.
Black Widow #13 - I was a little confused as to why they were glossing over a certain death, until I remembered what book I was reading. This is my favorite Marvel title, and maybe my favorite overall. You know exactly what you're going to get, but Edmonson is so good at writing it and the art is fantastic.

Don't care about Deadpool at all, but I kinda want that RTJ variant.

Archie solicited their Dark Circle books for April. The coolest thing in my opinion is that each book in April will have a grindhouse movie poster variant by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina artist Robert Hack. Definitely getting all three of these:

That Black Hood cover is incredible, but I wish the logo was in that same style.

Read the SHIELD comic tonight... wow. It's a shame they can't do that on the TV show... that's just what I think SHIELD should be like.
And it ALMOST made an effort at continuity! Frost Giants HAVE indeed invaded (over in Thor)... then here they are. We'll just ignore the fact that either this has to happen WAY in the future, or that 'Superior' Tony Stark suddenly decided to be a good guy for a few minutes with no explanation.

-Steve Epting's artwork on Velvet is great.
-John Cassaday's using a more compact style or a some other way of 'inking' on the new Star Wars. The insane feathery detail on his Planetary work isn't here. Don't get me wrong, it still looks excellent, but it is different. I wonder if he has gone from actually penciling to a digital drawing setup and skipping the traditional inking.
-Starlin's Thanos/Hulk is strikingly 70s style comic and I kind of dug that element.
- Alex Maleev works well as a Hellboy artist. There are some killer pages in the first two issues of the current series. Hellboy is always a good read.
-Started back up with East of West and read 12 and 13. Oh snap, stuff is starting to happen and I really dug the big action issue #13. Cool series, kind of it's own thing and definitely the best thing I think Hickman has done. Artist reminds me a bit of old 80s Matt Wagner, which is a good thing.
-It's kind of a shame Greg Capullo didn't have some better Batman stories as his artwork on this current run is really excellent. Snyder has some elements that are interesting but his stories have some seriously dumb action movie moves. This altering of the Batman back story is a bit like the whole Wolverine Origin story, I don't know that it really adds that much 'good'. Eh...it would have been a whole lot better to have used Ra's Al Ghul as behind the Court of Owls, someone might go that way down the line.

Definitely getting all three of these: If they decided to reboot the whole franchise as 70's exploitation style, I'd be checking them all out. Looks awesome.
