I have Marvel unlimited and there is a delay on the new issues. I'll buy the mini series off the stands and might jump off Marvel like I did to the Nu 52. I don't really like the Avengers anymore now that EVERY Marvel character seems to be a member. Since my main interest in Marvel Unlimited is the classics archive, I have no problem waiting for the issues to come out. I suspect as the digital market increases that Marvel will eventually get rid of this policy. I can't get into the Avengers either. Making them the JLA completely misses the point. I'm going to keep my eye on the new stuff and give it a chance. I've been so detached from the Marvel Universe (I really don't even perceive it as such after Busiek's Avengers to be honest. His run felt like the last true Marvel run in many ways.) mainly because of the bad characterizations during the Quesada era, that a reboot almost seems like a good thing at this point. What do we have to lose? If they get back to what make the characters great, with a modern touch of course, I'll be in. Avengers is a great example. If they get back to the feel of the classic Avengers comics, I'll read it.

Oddly...it's possible to wait for the books to actually come out and you know what is happening in them before pissing and moaning about what is happening in books that haven't happened yet. Of course, but the reason comic company release this sort of info it to try to get people excited and generate sales... people are allowed (and, in fact, encouraged), to have opinions before reading it... Bendis and Marvel WANT people to whine.. he's said more than once he feels any press is good press. I've honestly been slowing dropping Marvel titles.., with X-Factor and Invaders cancelled, that leaves me with Daredevil, Iron Man(Which I'm really only buying for the train wreck), Thor, Spidey 2099, and regular Spidey... though I'm probably dropping that, too, since Spider-verse hasn't appealed to me at all. I might add the SHIELD book. Between Bendis plotting and constant GotG crossovers, I dropped the X-Books I was getting, and Mighty Avengers turned me off during Axis. Right now, I'm looking forward to AFTER Secret Wars... I'm hoping to see something of the 2099 Universe, and perhaps an Avengers book that actually looks and feels like Avengers. Edit: Totally forgot Ms. Marvel! I think in my brain that's it's not a Marvel book

They did maker Whizzer their dad, in the Vision & Scarlet Witch miniseries, but that particular retcon was itself retconned away when the Magneto story popped up. I knew it! I knew I wasn't misremembering! And the golden age Miss America was supposed to be their mom. But I cannot recall exactly if Whizzer was written as their biological father or adopted? I can recheck my book, but I do not recall off the top of my head. Of course, making any character the child of a golden age character worked in the 60s, was still feasible in the 80s but by now would definitely have to be "grandchild of." DC had the same problem with Jesse Quick, daughter of Liberty Belle and Johnny Quick. If her mom was in her 20s in 1942, and Jesse is the same age now, Belle had her in her 70s!

I guess I do not care so much if they change/tweak origins of certain characters to make them more current, IF (huge IF) they can manage not to change the characters.

Now: Ms. Marvel Ant-Man Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Back Widow Secret Avengers Bucky Barnes Rocket Raccoon Daredevil Captain Marvel Silver Surfer Iron Fist Hawkeye (Fraction)
Was: She Hulk Elektra Superior Foes of Spider Man Moon Knight (Ellis)
Could be: Hawkeye (Lemire & R Perez) Howard The Duck Spider-Gwen
And that's just what I've kept my eye on. S.H.E.I.D., Savage Hulk, Inhumans, Operation S.I.N., Deathlok etc. Yes, events suck. No, these are not must read books for everyone. In fact, I'm sure some of you would probably detest some of these titles. But there are certainly options within Marvel (and DC) that's not tied to events and crossovers

How in the Hell did a character like Squirrel Girl get her own book? Am I missing something?

I think Squirrel Girl is following the trend of Deadpool and Harley Quinn: slightly odd and entertaining characters with not-so-serious books seem to have a nice niche right now.
And with the popularity, her first appearance has apparently gone from dollar bin material to big bucks - prices range from $59 to $235 on mycomicshop.com!

I picked up a copy of Squirrel Girl's first appearance a couple of years back, for about $8. Sure wish I'd grabbed a couple of extras, but who expected her to get her own book? I love the character, and I didn't see that coming.
Her book is more mainstream/all-ages friendly than Deadpool or Harley. I really hope it finds an audience. And that the new Secret Wars leaves her the hell alone.

Im on your side buddy, but theres not a lot in your list that I would hold up as unmissable. I found that new xfactor lacking, jlu truly terrible, and action is pretty sometimes but incomprehensible. Hickmans Avengers is truly divisive, it seems to be a love or hate though I havent really decided personally. Daredevil, Miracleman, and Hawkeye are great, but Ive found Multiversity to be hot or cold. I would have added Aarons Thor, and Azzarellos Wonder Woman, 2 stand out books though WW has moved on. *gasp* You bite your finger tips, Mister!!!! The only thing "lacking" about that book was PAD's ability to continue writing it. I've been a fan of PAD's for many years CW, but never got the FANatacism on XFactor(any version for that matter), but to be fair I've never read a decent run of it. I'm going to upset you by saying that I prefer Bendis's All New X-Men and Uncanny, and as much as I want to like Amazing, Storm, and adjectiveless, the only other Xbook I like is Cyclops, thank goodness its about junior not senior.

Squirrel Girl's first appearance: She was a guest in the Iron Man story, and helps him defeat Dr. Doom. I bought this issue off the rack about 25 years ago and was shocked to recently discover that it's actually a somewhat valuable item. When I heard she was getting her own book, I looked up eBay sold auctions on a whim and discovered copies going for at least $50 in some instances.
