Just read through the second volume of Five Ghosts-Lost Coastlines. I picked up the first volume because it made all kinds of year end best of lists last year, and was blown away by the pulp stylings of Frank Barbiere and Chris Mooneyham. If anything volume 2 was better. Great pulp adventure, gorgeous art and a bigger story-line building with each arc. If you haven't checked out Five Ghosts yet, do yourself a favor and do so if you like any kind of pulp style adventure.

Moon Knight #5....it's essentially one issue long fight scene, a hero running a gauntlet with a life at stake, but d**n if it's not one of the most intense fight scenes I've seen in a comic in a long time. It was violent and ugly and beautiful all at the same time. Ellis is doing a masterful job of these done in one issues and Shalvey and Bellaire are cranking out top notch visuals issue after issue. This isn't an issue that makes you think, its just a visceral tour of super-hero violence-not something I usually particularly enjoy, but it was like tuning into an old Ali-Frazier bout or a Bruce Lee fight scene and just turning off the intellectual side and just experiencing it and reveling in it. -M I really enjoyed that one too.

I've been happily reading Dan Slott's run on Spider-Man and Mark Waid's run on Daredevil. Two of the best comics out there right now.

It's rare when art and story are truly equal in their greatness.

They didn't have Spread, but they did have Death Vigil. Quite liked it. I don't think I've ever read anything drawn/written by Stjepan Šejić before (quick look at wikipedia does show an Inhumans mini that I have read. Mostly Top Cow stuff for the rest, apparently quite a long run of Witchblade.)It's 4 bucks, but it's also 40 pages so that evens out (to me).

The preview for Archie comics horror-themed Sabrina has a great Rosemary's baby feel to it. I don't know where they'll be going with it but it's a very unexpected twist on the concept! Pretty good art, too.

I'm headed their today, and I wrote it down to make sure I pick up the first tpb.

Also it's Image, so getting it in trade will mean the first one will be $10 (not counting any discounts), which is nice.

A week and a half ago or so I mention to Tony Isabella on twitter that I never did manage to get the final issue of his recent Atlas comics miniseries. He explained that Diamond did not ship the copies (even though they had them in their warehouses!) because they were so busy shipping out a gazillion copies of Nu52 issues 1. And look what Tony sent me in the mail today: Postage to Germany is $5.10. He is very generous.

I assume that's the last issue.
They had some good stuff.
