A bit on European comics: there was supposed to be a new Franka comic this month (and there will be, it will be next week or the week thereafter), but I didn't realise that there was also an extra edition coming out (bit of weird timing on European comics: it can be a year between comics and then you get 2 at once). This special edition contained two short stories previously not published (one Henk Kuijpers started in 1988 and redid 4 times)  The first story focuses on old Cadillacs. It's a bit more adult than most Franka comics (having a bit on a bad relationship she had with a blues musician.), the second is about Franka's Harley. Lots of art on old cars and motors between the two. |

I might have preordered GotG by Abnett & Lanning Vol. 2 and The Silver Surfer Epic Collection, both of which are due this week, but if so, one will have to wait a week or two.
I highlight trades I want to get when I do the monthly orders, some I preorder from the shop, others I add to my want list on Amazon for when our bank rewards accrue enough to get us free Amazon giftcards. I know I got the Iron Man and Avengers Epic collections through the shop and think I decided to wait on Amazon for these two, bu can't recall exactly (oy how I miss my memory at times).

Lots of art on old cars and motors between the two. Nice cover. Every time I see a Franka cover or page posted here it reminds me that I want to try this series. The artwork looks great and I like the sound of the premise. The only thing I'll be getting this week is the latest issue of Garnt Morrison's Multiversity. |

one of the better Humberto Ramos covers. Stiff competition to be sure. Not a Ramos fan at all. Speaking of variants, I grabbed the LEGO variant of Justice League United #6 today because it has J'onn on it, and the regular doesn't. It wasn't bagged, boarded and priced (as they usually do with variants), so I figured it was $3.99. Got to the register and, of course, it was $15. I tried to talk my way into getting it for cover, but couldn't. Apparently, they quit pricing the variants as such hoping people would be buying enough to not notice when a $4 book rings up as $15. Ah well. I'll go back and get it once it hits their back issue bin for $6. Wow. My LCS (well, one of them; turns out there's a second one a couple of blocks away that I just discovered) had it on the shelf for cover price. They put the more common variants on the shelf w/the regular cover, while some variants are in a case, clearly marked. |

The one new Nu52 series I am tempted to get: Secret Six. This cover is wonderful: I don't get it - is it referring to other comics characters or something? For a second I thought the red-haired couple was supposed to be a grown-up Sugar & Spike, but google images shows me that Sugar was blonde. |
