Steve Montano was responsible for a lot of the art on that book. Valentino did little more than layouts while being credited as penciller. An acquaintance of mine was pals with Montano and I saw snapshots of what Valenino's "pencilled" pages looked like when Montano would get them. Backgrounds were pretty much non-existent, there was a little detail in faces and torsos but limbs were mostly lines or curves indicating where they should go. Montano pretty much had to do the rest as part of the inking on the book. I think Montano stayed on the book when Valentino left for Image, so he may have had a strong impact on how KEvin West's pencils looked early on since he was used to doing so much of the art himself. -M You're not wrong. Seems Montano was actually there for the entire run of the series, with the occasional fill-in for a few pages here and there.

Must have been really weird for Montano to get Eaglesham's pencils. I know both Dale and his wife, and Dale has never been able to bring himself to hand in anything but completely finished pencils. He won't even fill in the black with ++++ like many artists do.

Too many to mention (which proves I like modern books as much as classics) but I automatically gravitate towards anything Punisher related.
The one I've been enjoying the most recently is Rat Queens...

Brubaker (Gotham Central; Secret Avengers) and Morrison (New X-Men; Batman & Robin) probably have the most consistent lengthy runs for me in the past fourteen years. Warren Ellis (JLA Classified; Thunderbolts) and Marjorie Liu (Astonishing X-Men; Black Widow) have some of the best shorter runs on things.
Priest on Black Panther and Garth Ennis on Punisher were both mostly-wonderful, sometimes lagging all the way to simply really really really good that month.
The two big jam sessions that really rocked me were Rucka, Giffen, Morrison, Waid, Bennett, Jimenez and everyone on 52, and the Slott/Waid/Ramos/Stern/Weeks/et al post-marriage Spidey.
I can't get excited about anything Hickman's done and some of it, like his SHIELD, is so bloated while never addressing anything, it just outright annoyed me. And, while there are Rick Remender comics I can enjoy, most of them turn me off pretty quick.

Speaking of Brubaker, Criminal is probably my favorite series-that-went-over-six-issues as a whole in the past 14 years that had nothing to do with the letters "A", "B," and "C" written in order.

I've enjoyed a good many of the runs mentioned here, especially Planet Hulk, The Ultimates, Ultimate Spider-Man and Batman and Robin. For my money though my favorite runs from the last decade were Mignola's Hellboy from the Conqueror Worm on to present day, Thor: The Mighty Avenger by Chris Samnee, Solomon Kane by Scott Allie and possibly my favorite: The Marquis by Guy Davis.

Immortal Iron Fist is one of my favorite comic series of all time
X-Force/Statix by Milligan and Allred
Seconding Gotham Central, Superior Spider-Man, Slott's Spider-Man
Secret Warriors I enjoyed a lot despite Hickman's continued diminishing returns as a Marvel writer
Warren Ellis's Thunderbolts was wonderfully demented, and inspired Dark Reign, for better or worse. His Nextwave too, funniest book ever.
Wolverine and the X-Men #17 may be one of the single greatest comics ever created
Thor The Mighty Avenger and the current Thor book by Jason Aaron are great.

I may be alone in this but I really enjoyed the New 52 Batman and Robin series, it was a great look at the relationship between Bruce and Damian

I may be alone in this but I really enjoyed the New 52 Batman and Robin series, it was a great look at the relationship between Bruce and Damian I have been enjoying it immensely as well but I think I liked Morrison's run a little more, it was just a tad more wacky; like a twisted version of the Adam West show.
