It's 3 years later from the start of this thread so I'm going to say Thanos.

Spidey is still my number one but I have grown to really like Warlock as of late. Batman used to be a top one for me but I feel removed from Batman and more in line with the cosmic heroes now like Warlock, Captain Marvel, etc.

I have a Batman-cave to prove it.

Too many (I personally tend to go for the comedic, hapless, "in-over-their-head" losers like Blue Devil, Howard The Duck, Plastic Man, The Maxx, The Fox, The Tick, etc.), but If I had to name an absolute favorite, Tales Of Suspense/early Volume 1 era Cap wins out every single frakkin' time

Probably a 3 way tossup between Punisher, Conan and Batman.

The Paul Kirk Manhunter. That was a near-perfect adventure/mystery story and the character is really great. James Robinson used him well in The Golden Age and he was better used than most in MIllennium. He is a nice mix of the Captain America "man out of his time," super spy/soldier/hunter, superhero, detective, and pulp adventurer.
After that, it's probably Dominic Fortune, in period adventures. Chakin and Denny O'Neil had a lot of fun with that character, especially the color stories, in Rampaging Hulk magazine (including one where he meets a satire of the Shadow).
Based on pure visual, it's The Black Terror, especially the Mort Meskin & Jerry Robinson stories. really great moody art.
For pure adventure, it's The Phantom. I just love the concept of a heroic dynasty and always loved Phantom stories set in past time periods.

Too many to mention them all, but Doctor Strange and the Black Panther were probably two of the biggest for me as a kid.

Captain America is my obvious #1.
After him, it's probably Doctor Strange, Thor, Cyclops, and Blade to round out the Top 5.

I just love the concept of a heroic dynasty and always loved Phantom stories set in past time periods. My favorite on a purely visul level is Reddevil/Daredevil Also totally agree on The Phantom, it's kind of amazing how something like an action packed, swash-buckling adventure serial from the 30's can still hold up today I'd also like to add an honorable mention to my previous post, V1 Shadowman/Jack Boniface. There's just something so simple and pure about Jack and his escapades into the world of "freeform improvisation in the dark". I love how later on his loa overtakes him completely and turns him into an absolute savage
