Just finished the series today, and all in all, I really enjoyed it. I found their depiction of Kingpin to be a departure from how he's traditionally presented in the comics, particularly with respect to his social awkwardness and mommy/daddy issues, but I thought it was an original spin on the character, and definitely provides for some great moments for Vincent D'onofrio. I wasn't the biggest fan of the final costume though. In these more "realistic" takes on superheroes, I get that spandex doesn't work and that there needs to be something that looks more utilitarian. I guess I'm just getting a bit tired of the armored, militaristic look. On the other hand, I was glad to see that the full fledged billy clubs finally made their appearance. I hope in the second season we get to see them used more -- can't have Daredevil without the billy club grappling hook. Yes, if they improve one thing, it would be the costume. A more blood red and less armour looking. However, if it stays, I still won't complain.
I also loved that we saw Kingpin as having these "issues". Made him seem more real and being as it is an origin tale for both, it leaves him room to grow. He is in prison now but when he gets out, watch out. They would have had nowhere to go with him as a character if they started him off as a fearless crime boss that had everything figured out. Granted, he has a lot of control but Matt/DD and company still are able to ruffle him up.

Wood should be credited. I thought that the first time I saw the Lee/Everett credits. I wonder if it has anything to do with Wood's less than complimentary opinions of Stan Lee after working at Marvel? I thought the series was great. Oddly, the one weak point for me was the final Kingpin and Daredevil showdown. I felt that it was a bit over the top and didn't really fit with the tone of the show up until that point. As far as the costume goes, it looks great on paper (I saw a design sheet Quesada posted on tumblr) but like most live-action superhero costumes the final product is a mixed bag. The mask seemed like it didn't fit properly and it looked a bit odd. Movie and TV productions still haven't figured out how to make a superhero mask look as cool, or fit as snugly, as the ones in the comics when it doesn't cover the whole face. (Batman, Daredevil, Cap, etc.)
I thought the fight was great! DD bounces back and take shim down, prevents him from getting to his getaway chopper. That is as cliché a comic ending you can have and that is why I loved it. As great and serious as the show was, they can turn a typical "stop the bad guy getaway into the sunset" cliché and make it great.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the final costume though. Same here. I could definitely have seen the black bandana look continue as in Frank Miller's and John Romita's Jr.'s Man without fear miniseries. And if a costume is needed (for protection if nothing else, as the series highlighted), I'd prefer something as little super-heroic as possible; a slightly thicker version of the current track suit, perhaps, with teeny tiny horns on the headpiece, but not a leather armour. I fear it will detract from the relative realism of the series and push it into Arrow territory. As for an armoured look, well... if we really must go that way, I admit I liked the Scott McDaniel costume from the early 90s.

I think that's a great casting move. He looks the part, and he played Shane on TWD with that right blend of being a good guy and yet slightly unhinged that works well for Punisher.

Just finished binge watching this series over the weekend. It's honestly better than any superhero TV show has a right to be. It's just damn good television. So much of which looks like a comic page come to life. The fight choreography is insane. They really nailed the action throughout. The direction is superb and there was some really inventive camera work and editing during some of the fight scenes. The casting is excellent and there are some fantastic performances. Vincent D'Onofrio steals every scene he's in and he is completely transformed as Wilson Fisk on screen. The costume reveal and final fight scene were epic. I really can not wait to watch season 2!

I'm curious to see if they're going to give the Punisher the trench-coat look or a mix of body armor/classic costume. As long as they include The Skull I'll be a happy camper.

I hope it's a mix of the two. Kevlar body armor with the skull and a leather trench coat over top. Ray Stevenson's look from Punisher: War Zone (worst of all the Punisher movies) without the neck roll would be pretty sweet. Also make the skull a little more visible

I sorta "binged" by watching all 13 episodes over 4 days...best I can do as a working mom Really, really impressed with this show... My only somewhat disappointment... I wasn't expecting Ben Urich to die

Yeah, that death was surprising to me giving the importance of that character to the Daredevil mythos.

I was hoping they would hold out on Elektra for awhile, but I'm not going to complain. I'm hoping we get to see a proper take on the Owl soon. The set up is there, so hopefully it pays off.
