The one member that seem to be happy with Trump's candicacy has picture of the Punisher as his avatar and calls himself Warmonger. Please forgive me if I'm wrong though. That being said, I think this would more likely suit support to Cruz or Rubio who would be way more scary to me if they won and applied what they say in those debates. If we're going for the affiliations, I'd say that Cruz is more Hitler than Trump. Trump is more of a Mussolini, and Rubio is like Franco. Hopefully both Rubio and Cruz are just puppets and would never do what they say if in power. I mean, if they applied their program, the USA would go bankrupt within 6 months and it would be civil war, survival of the fittest, wouldn't it?
Dan and Hal, can I ask you how you both feel about the Israel recent debating? I personnaly think it is appaling, but I'm not american, so I might have missed something.

I guess it's just weird for most european people that when some americans see and agree with this, they think that Trump is the solution :
If you agree with that, Sanders is the first real choice americans got in decades! One thing I still can't understand is what kind of Jedi mind tricks do the republican have so that they get poor people to believe that universal social healthcare is a bad thing. If you had that in movies such as Total Recall or even The Hunger Games, that would be considered a plot failure.

Take heart, Prince Hal. The latest annual survey of college freshmen just came out, and they are the most liberal ever. IIRC, the percentages were 33% liberal/far left and 20% conservative/far right. Well, I hope that they retain that liberalism when they decide voting is important in another 40 years. Take heart, Prince Hal. I hope to hell they vote. I suppose it's possible, as there were marked increases in the youth vote in both 2008 and 2012 but by and large it's the middle aged and elderly who vote and of late it feels as if there is a whole lot senility sweeping the country...or at least that's how I'm going to imagine it as losing your mental faculties due to the savaging of age is a much sunnier picture than actively choosing these nutjobs because you think they're right.

I really think that the republicans have yet to process that the young adults have access to internet. That the next generation or the one after that will have no patience for those fake stances and compilations of lies that the republican candidates through whenever they get the opportunity to open their mouth on stage. The youth will be more used to source their information, and all the crazy statements and lies displayed are usually a couple of clicks from debunk. And that would certainly hold for some "democrats" as well.

The ease of accessing the world's accumulated knowledge at the touch of a button also breeds some real lazy-ass young people. I've seen it right here on these boards and on many other forums. Someone will post a thread with a simplistic question instead of doing a quick google search themselves. It's mind-boggling why they can't summon up their own effort. And its this lazy mentality that will spawn a generation of mopey youngsters willing to believe any hogwash foisted upon them from politicians who give them simple answers to their frustrations. The human condition will not change because of the internet. It might even encourage lack of motivation and self-improvement

Now that you mention it, I was watching a bunch of old trailers with a friend of mine tonight, old movies we loved when we discovered those in our teen years, like Rumble Fish, Big Wednesday, Hal Hartley movies, Vampire's Kiss, etc, and I was thinking, "youth of today, they don't have the patience to watch those anymore, it takes too much investment now, as you have to figure out things by yourself"... Even me probably, I may have become a little like that, or else it's that they just don't make films like that anymore, hahaha. Nah, I know they do, but now it's "art" while back then it was just movies, ones you could watch between "The Thing" and "Risky Business"... Once, I tried to show both Big Deal On Madonna Street (the 1960 italian movie) and Death Race 2000 to a an old girlfriend who was younger than me, quite smart and educated, but her attention span was put to challenge way more then I'd have expected...

Regardless of Sanders or Clinton or who one is voting for, I don't like how critically important things like the Iowa State Fair and South Carolina primaries are in our democratic process. This game of distributing delegates and electorates seem to exist solely to place disproportionate importance regarding the most important decisions our citizens can make on corn fields. A popular vote based system would drastically change campaign tactics, but overall, I think is much better.

I agree but its better than the older days when you would have a bunch of fat, paid off old men smoking cigars in the back room deciding who the party candidate will be Edit-you know, I don't think that old system has completely vanished

Just answered the door to a Bernie volunteer getting out the vote. I was glad to be able to tell him I'm supporting Bernie as well.
He'd gone to 24 other Democrats or Independents in my neighborhood, and there was one strong Hillary supporter, one on the fence, and the rest were for Bernie !

You know, I'm not sure.
The 24 he talked to are in my neighborhood, but I don't know how many other Republican or non-registered homes he passed by.
Very middle class neighborhood

This is such an odd feeling watching the latest GOP debate : when Rubio and Cruz spend all their time attacking Trump instead of answering their questions, using the lamest techniques, you strangely find yourself rooting for Trump... And the moderators don't help by craving specific answers and giving contradiction only to Trump. This just is becoming a bigger disaster by the minute, but it's not even funny anymore....
