I'm comfortably back on the wagon with the calorie counting - have been under for 3 days in a row (which isn't actually that good - I probably need to eat more to build muscle, but I'm still juggling what I'm eating a bit). Weight was 165.something this morning.
Have done 3 straight days on the bike - 6 rides for a total of nearly 75 miles, and 2 gym sessions - that's Heavy and Medium days done for this week, with the very enjoyable Light day to come. Rest day tomorrow, and I need it - everything I've got aches, mostly from trying to improve my form on a couple of the gym exercises - deeper squats and nearer-horizontal back for bent-over rows.
Aiming for 2 more days of riding this week, but will depend on the weather - we're supposed to be getting snow tomorrow.
I'm pretty happy with how my week is going - how are all you guys (and any gals, though I don't think we've had any on the thread for ages) doing?
Come on troops, sound off - let's get some momentum into the thread!

I'm still at 255 and I hope to get back to the swing of things by next week after a couple of other problems has been taken care of.
My Water Polo Team will have practices in two weeks that should help considerably.

I have decided to only look at my weight once every other week. But so far its going well. I worked out 3 times last week and one time so far this week. I would have gone one more time this week but because of some last minut change in work, where I had to go to another city to be a censor at an exam with only a days notice, I was not able to. Eating wise its going well to.

Not bad considering I've had no discipline and no exercise for about 5 weeks. I'm getting mentally prepared to take the plunge in a few days.

I just got back from Water Polo Practice and barely swam 3/4 of a mile and did a short swim workout about 45 minutes getting ready for our Water Polo League starting the 3rd of February. I'm still the Center for the team and we should be ready for our 1st match on the 3rd and that's would the first of 30 matches that will last until the end April with playoffs in May.
I haven't gotten my schedule yet but I will get it on the 30th of January; after my first practice - I work on weights and did the stationary bike for about 15 minutes and went home.
My weight is at 253 and I lost two pounds in 4 weeks.

packing on the pounds. . . can't stop eating, and not exercising, and in a terrible state of mind.
dealing with an upcoming devastating loss, and having a tough time.
just wanted to update why I haven't been posting.

Hey @bert, you're one of the leaders of this race. You can stop. Do one small thing tomorrow. Eat one good meal. Maybe stop eating after 6pm. Good luck.

Well, a month of trauma, comfort eating, illness and very little exercise leaves me at 170.0 - that's a 10 pound gain since early December. In a couple of days, when I've hopefully finished coughing my lungs up, I'll be back on the bike and into the gym and working to get that back off again

Feel better, my friend.

I lifted weights this morning for the first time in over a month. The Christmas season had me working 10-12 hours a day and I finally have time to start over. Guys, let's sound off . @simongarth, @bert, @mechagodzilla, shaxper, bor.

I'm hitting the gym regularly these days and feeling better, but my goal has switched from weight loss (which was frustrating and, I'm starting to think, long-term impossible) to just getting and feeling healthier. Thus I haven't been participating in the thread. I don't need accountability and encouragement to get to the gym and do what makes me feel good.

It's not impossible , but it might be without changes in diet and without exercise. You need both.

You know how hard I worked at diet back in the day, George, and I'm still choosing to eat healthier these days. And clearly I've got the exercise part down. Some people, it would seem, are just supposed to be large. My goal is to make sure it's more muscle than fat.

IcctromboneI will be heading to my gym in about hour from now and I will try to get back with thread and report my status. Water Polo Practices been brutal and I noticed my pants are getting a bit more loose now and that's a good thing. I've been eating four small meals a day every 6 hours and that's helps. More fruits and veggies in my diet and now I'm eating oatmeal for snacks.
