I'm enjoying Old Man Logan quite a bit. I've always thought that Wolverine was one of the characters Bendis has a better handle on and Sorrentino is fantastic.

Weirdworld is growing on me, has basically got better with each issue. Guardians of Knowhere remains OK. Captain Britain & Defenders was awful. 1872 was OK-ish. Ultron v Zombies was poor. House of M was rubbish - so far, X-books batting a big zero - every one of them has been terrible. Secret Love was so far beyond awful it couldn't even see awful with telescopic vision.
In comparison, Loki was just masterful, and showed up just how weak most of these tie-in books have been, and what a colossal mistake it's been to run the whole Marvel line as multiple months of What If books.

Yeah, Loki was awesome. Runaways is another Battleworld title that gets better with each issue.

I have just recently binged on the whole run of Loki Agent of Asgard. What an amazing book. Everything you could desire from a character who only started to get interesting when he made it to Hollywood. I had originally blown it off as a cash in book, but was I wrong in a big way. I love that he is aware and ok with the concept that he will continue to change personalities over time...as his "story" is changed. Hopefully the girlfriend, like Dawn in Silver Surfer another great new supporting cast member, wont be cast into the unwanted void.

pakehafulla, have you also read Journey into Mystery yet (the recent series by Gillan, not the classic series)?

pakehafulla, have you also read Journey into Mystery yet (the recent series by Gillan, not the classic series)? I did read some of it, but never enough to really comment. What I did, i liked, much like most of the Thor books in the past few years, from the JMS relaunch through the excellent Aaron books. Loki though is on another level, so clever, and so different to what I expected, a real joy.

This week's crock of ... I mean, this week's clutch of titles. Actually, not too bad, mainly because several of them have largely ignored the whole Secret WhatIf thing and gone their own way.
Secret Whatif tie-in Old Man Logan continued to be decent, and Marvel Zombies continues to beat expectations. Only really red-skying SW, Spider-Woman was pretty meh, as was Ant-Man Last Days. Totally ignoring SW, Hank Johnson, Agent of Hydra was a surprise little gem. Haven't yet worked up the enthusiasm to read Captain Marvel, Where Monsters Dwell or Magneto

Only getting Weirdworld (for the art - I like to see a different artist still in his growth), E is FOr Extiction (kind of a bet there, it might be terrible) and Hank Johnson Agent of Hydra. I would have taken Where Monsters Dwell if the art wasn't so ugly. I passed on the core series as I have almost zero interest for th marvel universe these days. But I love esad Ribic and Hickman can sometime please, so I might just be getting it when it's done if the feedback is still good at the end.
Does the Loki series stand on its own enough?

The Loki series has been outstanding all the way through (and in its incarnations through JIM and previous Loki titles) - if you're not reading that, you're missing a gem.
The core Secret Whatif title has been pretty decent, and would be worth your time IMHO, which is more that I can say for the vast majority of the tie-ins.
Finishing up on this week's books: Magneto was a decent book-end for the character. Where Monsters Dwell was the 3rd meh issue in a row, as was Captain Marvel (I'm seriously wondering if CM can actually hold a book - like the character, but can't remember any of her series rising above mediocre, including this one and the 2 since her new-costume relaunch).

Yeah, I agree. And while the Loki series does take part in the 616 universe and is affected by the Secret World "end of the world" bit, it manages to tell a story that can be independently enjoyed.
He had a cute guest appearance in Ms Marvel, too.

To sum things up for me so far: Most fun: Weird World, Hank Johnson - Agent of Hydra, Marvel Zombies, Infinity Gauntlet, 1872, 1602: Witch Hunter Angela, Star Lord & Kitty Pryde, Runaways
OK: Korvac Saga, Old Man Logan, Inhumans, Planet Hulk, Where Monsters Dwell, Captain Marvel & the Carol Corps, Inferno, Mrs Deadpool, Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars, Hail Hydra, Captain Britain & Defenders, Years of Future Past, Zombies vs Age of Ultron, A-Force
Disappointing or just plain bad: X-Men '92, 2099, Guardians of Knowhere, Future Imperfect, Age of Apocalypse, E is for Extinction, MODOK Assassin,

Oh yeah, E Is For Extinction is that bad? It doesn't really do anything for me. It's pretty much: Look, we know you loved Grant Morrison's stuff, so we are warming it all up for you without an interesting story to tell.

Too bad... And how is the art? The art is fun in an indie way, but the guy is a bit of a one trick pony. Most panels don't have backgrounds.
