I'm enjoying the core Secret Wars book, but so far, virtually all of the tied in series have been a bit... I dunno... what can I say about them... sorta, well... crap, basically.
The X-books have picked 3 awful eras to focus on - 92, Inferno and Age of Apocalypse, and I just have no interest in revisiting those.
Old Man Logan - better than expected.
Weirdworld - meh
Captain Marvel - much like the prior series, OK but I'm just not engaged
Angela - not interested
Spider-verse - not interesting
Renew your vows - not interested
Inhumans in any shape or form - not interested
Ghost Races - meh
Where Monsters Dwell - meh
A-Force - OKish
Overall, apart from the core series, it's looking like a massive jumping off point for me, and I still don't get a view what the end-point is supposed to be - the message about "this being our new reality" implies Battleworld for ever, but I don't believe that.

The only book I've read from this new set-up is Little Marvel AvX, because I like Skottie Young and it's something I can share with my kids. The other titles hold absolutely zero interest for me, although I may get Thors, as the concept seems intriguing moreso than the other titles I've previewed.
I'm looking forward to this fall, when characters that I actually like (Cap, Iron Man, Thor possibly) will be back starring in their own books as part of a shared universe. Until then, they can have their fun with their "Summer of What If/Elseworlds" and I will keep my money. It's a win-win for everyone.

I've been pretty meh on what I've read so far.
I got Inferno, which I was hoping to be focused on Magik, and instead I get angry hitting things, and no Magik until the last page.
A-Force was OK, but nothing grabbed me in particular... it didn't make me want to read more. I have a couple others in the pile I haven't got to yet... but so far I'm not real happy. To be honest, between this and DC, I could see myself skipping new stuff for a while.

I'll buy the main series when it goes on sale just to see what all the hoopla is about, but Marvel's pretty much dead to me, more so than ever.
The two series that sound fairly interesting to me are Weirdworld and Squadron Sinister.
Possibly interested in Marvelman, depending on what I see.

I just started with Marvel Unlimited when they had a free month offer last month (tomorrow is the end of my free month, and my wife had read more than I have on it, but I just got a new tablet so will likely check out more this month as I am paying for it now), so I will poke around on some of these when they hit the service six months form now or when the local library gets the trades in, but there was nothing I saw in the promo of the event that made me want to go out and spend money on any of it to read it.

It really depends on the state of Marvel after all this Secret Wars stuff is over. I'm still unsure about the new Hulk that's supposed to be coming out. Marvel's recent track-record with the Hulk has been pretty pathetic. I'd like a bit more stability in the Marvel Universe and a return to some of the iconic roots of the various series. I've explained before that since I read more Image titles now than Marvel or DC, I don't personally need "status quo" shake ups every six months as a weak substitute for change and progress. I get my needed dose of real change and progress with creator-owned comics. I doubt they'll ever get back to the classic style of storytelling since it's actually harder to tell good stories when you can't rely on gimmicks like gender swapping and universe shattering reboots.

Mate almost exactly how Ive felt about the new books Ive tried. I quite like the central book, and expected to get into the new stuff but it all feels forced. Im finding myself being almost completely ambivalent to them despite mad love for the Avengers and Inhumans. The other main thing that bugs the heck outa me is the multiple Cap/IM/Wolv/everyone. I dont mind alternate uni books, but a dozen Tony Starks on one world is...well a dozen too many...is stretching my empathy too far. |

Just starting Squadron Sinister, cant believe how giggly I feel reading this. The Pachecho cover is like my 70s wet dream, the style I always loved in Avengers or JLA adventures. Then I see the Jim Cheung cover and Im struck with how much his work reminds me of the great Gil Kane. Same amazing posing and how he depicts anatomy are screaming Kane at me.
Love it.

Squadron Sinister was OK, but I don't understand how it fits in with the "no-one crosses the walls without getting fried by Thors" edict. Maybe more to come in later issues.
Marvel Zombies was OK as well, and Thors was so-so
Can't get into Armor Wars - art is horrible
Still nothing really setting the pulse pounding yet.

I was pretty happy to see the real Hulk 2099 and Junkpile in Secret Wars 2099.. I also sorta wonder if this Hawkeye is really Bloodhawk  . Not a very good book overall though.. the Captain America thing is dumb.. really dumb. Armor Wars was OK, though between the new genius niece he picked up in his last solo run and making him a Thor, Rhodey is REALLY REALLY feeling like John Henry Irons now. |

Hated the 2099 book, but then I was out of comics when the whole 2099 thing happened, so I have no affinity to it ... and agree it wasn't a good book.
Really not feeling Planet Hulk - I think I'm done with that. Not sure about Where Monsters Dwell - so far it just seems like a parade of punctured stereotypes. Wasn't taken with Korvac Saga, but will give that another issue. E for Extinction - yet another X-book about an era I didn't like - 1 and out for that.
Ultron v Zombies was better than expected - that one at least earns a 2nd issue.
All in all, I'm wondering how all of this stuff is doing in sales - most of these books have been so bad, that I wouldn't be suprised if Marvel's sales aren't in the sewer as the 2nd issues come around. The whole event just looks like a really badly conceived series of mostly-crappy alternate-earth versions - replacing series which people actually liked with high-concept variants that just aren't very good.

I don't think sales will be effected, since retailers had to order the 2's before sales for 1s were in... I think what'll the test will be is if there are lots of them sitting on shelves.
Where Monsters Dwell has been my favorite so far, but that's damning with faint praise.
