I read a few of my pulls...
Weirdworld: Still weird, really a big 'ole mish mash of stuff without alot of direction. Some fun moments, but I wouldn't call it good.
Where Monsters Dwell: My favorite so far, but WAY over the top and probably not for everyone
Armor Wars: Oh, good, another book where Tony Stark is really a villain. *Sigh*
1872: Fun set up, but totally mystifying as to the plot. Maybe trying a little too hard with the tossing superheroes into a western thing.
Haven't read 2099 or Runaways yet.

Too bad... And how is the art? The art is fun in an indie way, but the guy is a bit of a one trick pony. Most panels don't have backgrounds. Alright, so I better skip that one and wait for hte artist to do a one shot or something to check him out...

Oh yeah, E Is For Extinction is that bad? I think I'd given up on them by the time that one came out, but all of the other X-books I tried were awful, and I'm not surprised if that one is as well.

1872 remained a very good read to the end. I hope they keep the promise at the end of the book that we'll see this team of Avengers again.
Imagine this: An Avengers team were the name actually makes sense.

Inferno and Shield ended up being pretty good. And the Parker family dynamic was nice to see in Renew Your Vows.

1872 finished decently, as did Weirdworld.
New launches: Karnak - meh; Iron Man - OK; Ant Man - meh; Amazing Spider-Man - not bad so far. However, the whole concept of launching the post-event titles 2 issues before the end of the event is just a clusterfrak of monumental proportions - totally eviscerates the event just as it's coming to conclusion - I genuinely have no idea WTF Marvel thought they were doing, unless it was "OMG all these crappy Secret Whatif titles are selling so badly we need to restart the line ASAP and can't wait for the delayed conclusion to this event".

I suspect you've got it.
I'll probably read 1872 and weirdworld next week (DCBS box will ship Thursday, most likely)... Iron Man didn't impress me. I don't think I have much else coming... Inferno and Ms. Marvel I think? I'm very curious to see how the post-secret Wars sales are... seems to me like a huge jumping off point, and they haven't marketed it very well at all.. as opposed to New 52, which, for all it's lack of story, was marketed really well (even TV ads).

Isn't this the Secret Wars tradition with Marvel though-weren't the effects of the original Secret Wars shown in all the Marvel titles (like Spidey getting the black suit which debuted before Secret Wars 8 came out if I remember correctly) long before the Secret Wars mini ended? -M

That's true, but if I remember correctly, they all appeared immediately while the core series went on. Here, every other series was suspended because the world(s) had ended and the only thing left was Secret Whatif World.

Here, every other series was suspended because the world(s) had ended and the only thing left was Secret Whatif World. Well in those days with newsstand distribution still being a major chunk of the business model and postal regulations for shipping status on periodicals limiting what they could do, suspending a series and replacing it with minis wasn't really an option, but I am sure if they could have they might have tried such a stunt. In fact they did that in the 90s with Onslaught/Heroes Reborn once the direct market was the only real market to consider in publishing strategies (And today is the same thing). So it's not really a new thing or even something different from Marvel, more of the same old same old with a new coat of paint and a fresh case of fan outrage. The only way to make them change is to stop buying the books, and show them this is unacceptable and will result in loss of revenue, but that doesn't happen, in fact the more they do this with events the more fans seem to buy so despite kvetching on the net, the real message being sent to Marvel is one of positive reinforcement because the money keeps flowing in and events keep topping sales charts, no matter how bad, how bloated, or how snafu'd the scheduling is. As I've said before, fans get the books (and the release schedule) their buying habits deserve. -M

I would love to see a comparison of the sales of the replacement series with the series that they replaced - IMHO, most of the replacements have been abysmal, so without the draw of continuing a run on an existing series, I would expect sales to have dropped off a cliff after most of the first issues.
