Back in January 2001, the month we left Montgomery County, the United States and any kind of nearby LCS, I bought...
Cerebus #262, with Cerebus and Jaka not doing much.
Daredevil #14. I liked the Echo character, for all that she was a bit derivative. She had great potential, which I fear never came to fruition in the following years. (After a stint in the Secret Avengers, I think she was fridged in some Moon Knight relaunch or something…)
Legion Lost #11, and a very shocking cliffhanger before the final issue.
Not a very active month, new comics-wise, and so it would remain for the following two decades!

As I always feel the need to explain, I only bought comics off the stands between 1989 and 1994. By this point, I'd left comics, though I'd briefly return in 2005. So anything I have from this time period was purchased well after the fact and as part of a larger run.
Batman #587 Detective Comics #754 Usagi Yojimbo (v.3) #45

20 years ago will be around the first time I hooked up with my dealer...he was a rebel who fell out with his dealer and started to order comics from Diamond.
This sounds like a rather unsavory back alley transaction. I can picture it now... Rags: Did you bring them? Dealer: Yeah, you got the money? Rags: Yeah. Whattaya got? Dealer (opening case): Got some Superman, some Batman, a little Captain America... what's your poison? Rags: Batman is good, but I think I want something a little harder. Dealer (looking through case): I got some Grimjack. Nah, better ease you into the harder stuff. How about Grell's Green Arrow? Rags (spying a bag with a hazard symbol on it): What are these? Dealer (slapping Rags' hand): Don't touch those! You can't handle 'em. Rags: Wha...? Dealer: I knew a guy. He read it all. New Teen Titans, Action Comics Weekly, both Secret Wars. R. Crumb. RAW. Wonder Warthog. Dude even read all of Claremont's X-Men in a week and came back for more. But I gave him two of these... (Dealer holds up a Silver Age issue of Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen) Dealer: Well, he don't buy anything any more, you know what I mean?

February 2001:
Orion #11 Orion:The Gates of Apokolips TPB - I was playing catch-up with the TPB, which collected the earlier issues of this series, still one of the very few solid efforts amongst all the various New Gods related comics produced by DC since Kirby's project was cancelled.
Promethea #13 - the best of Moore's ABC series, for my money.
Ring of the Nibelung:Siegfried #3 - it was probably unfair of me, but I wanted this to be even better than it was: I had been spoiled by the Siegfried pencil sketches I'd seen from Russell years earlier: the artwork here was nowhere near as detailed, and I disliked some of the artistic choices made - the sort of t-shirts (or what looked like such) worn by many of the characters, the plain backgrounds, ... still a good series, though.
