Yeah, and I found out about it secondhand myself. A little hydrogen peroxide, a couple of cotton swabs, and I'm sure he was good to go. You accept a man can fly without an airplane, but you object to this ? Well, a man can fly....the landing is the tricky part!

So my brother in law picked up these framed comics for my son at a garage sale, and we are struggling to figure out why they are framed. #335 is John Walker's first time in the costume(?), #303 is the origin of Cap's shield, and #289 seems utterly random. Is there some commonality amongst these three issues that might help to explain why the previous owner framed them? Maybe they were just the oldest Cap books they owned or the first three they owned or something. imgur.com/a/3jI0uFJ

#289 is the only one worthy of a frame... it's an Assistant Editors' Month issue... with GoGo Checks!

We're trying to understand their thinking so that (if possible) Owen can appreciate them as much as the original owner did. And if there is no logical reason beyond nostalgia and love, that's nice to know too. Just trying to rule out everything else.

I am from Turkey. I had seen the story in a Turkish children periodical magazine by then. It was certainly a foreign story translated in to Turkish language. The beginning of the story made me think that it was of US origin. I just checked the Grand Comics Database; they have nothing from Turkey before 1976. I tried a few keyword searches but found nothing. The story could have come from any publisher or any year from the 1940s to the 70s. This will be difficult to find unless someone remembers the story.

May be as simple as they loved the cover art.

I've got several comics framed... none of them are worth a single penny... None of them are even "significant" in the history of comics. One is a Star Trek comic I bought and got Klaus Janson to sign while I was working on a Star Trek game... the others are issues of Blackhawk with Chaykin covers he signed for me. They would mean nothing to anyone else.

Seeing as there were more than a few people in the business that mocked and made fun of his work, do you think Jack Kirby stayed in comics too long ?

While I like the work he did when he returned to Marvel, it would have been better for him if he had started work in Hollywood, where he was respected. But I have a feeling he paid no attention to the naysayers. He just went on with his work.
