If people thought they would never get a penny back on their books and could only buy them to read them, I think the market would look very different. Oh, yes, I'd buy far more comics and pay way less.

Q: Why have Tomb of Dracula prices gone nuts? I picked up 11-70 for about a dollar each, about 15 years ago. Blade's first appearance was more, maybe £35, but now it's going for more like 30x that price. 😱 What gives?

Maybe it'll be a bit of a bubble, price wise, as that inflation is absolutely insane. Wish I'd bought a crappy reading copy for £15 that is now worth £500 🤯

Don't succumb to the dark side. I don't think I've ever sold a comic, even a couple I have in triplicate (back when random runs of silver/Bronze Age comics were sold on eBay rather than only single issues). Edit: Though of course I see the temptation of selling what amounts to essentially a pamphlet for four figures.

Just because people are asking that much doesn't mean anyone is buying.

People like me, who just added SPIDER-MAN (1963) (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) (#1-441) #194 VFN for $221.70 to my pending order, which was billed 15 days later. BTW, it's the copy in the picture below, bought by Chuck on the 20th:

Sorry, you'll need to draw the dots for me... what point are you making, and what is the connection to Tomb of Dracula, please? I'm confused...

It's starting to seem like most old comics are valuable these days... so wish I'd bought a lot more silver age books 20/25 years ago, when they went for a fraction of what the do now! So many titles you can add an extra 0 on to the previous prices, and that's not even considering the unfortunate slabbing trend that's boosted prices like crazy.

I wouldn't say most, but too many. Out of the 51 comica in my Mile High order, the other 50 didn't average $6 each, while this one, being the first Black Cat in high grade raises that average to over $10. But I checked prices at eBay and below $200, copies sold aren't that good. You can't find it below $250 at Mycomicshop, can't find it at Newkadia, only one copy left at Silver Acre going for £349.99 in VFN grade and the copy left at Mile High is worse and more expensive because it's signed. When I received the newsletter and saw this one, I jumped on it, if it took 9 days for them to sell it to me, that's their thing, but I didn't wait. Chances are it will keep raising in price, seeing how the character is still to make its debut in the MCU.
Obviously, 30 years ago I would've paid a lot less, but I didn't have enough money back then to buy all the comics I wanted, so now I'm paying a premium for the ones I left out.

What age are most of the comics in your order? To be fair, even 7 or 8 years ago prices seemed much much better for Silver Age comics. I hear in the last two key prices have fallen off? The one Golden Age comic I bought 7 years ago, the EC comic with Bernie Krigstein's “The Master Race” in it, in VFN, is now worth 25x what I paid. 25 years ago I still thought reprints on nice paper were preferable, so rather than hundreds of reprints with shitty new colouring I could have had hundreds of originals for the money I spent. 😭
