Don't know if I have the time to keep up with it, but I managed to get a copy of (dutch translation) of Roy Thomas and P. Craig Russel's adaption of Michael Moorcock's Elric: The Dreaming City (1982). Was that from First? I remember getting and loving a lot of the First Elric books, but eventually quitting due to $. Vaguely recall them being priced higher than a normal book at that time, but could be wrong. No, this one was Marvel/Epic, but Elric has been published all over the place.

I was able to read the first Fables trade at work today. Perhaps I'll. be able to read the second at home tonight, and then try to average one trade a day for the month. Counting the few off-shoot series I own, that may get me thru the series this month! Easy to say after reading one book so far, but I can dream!

Well my randomizer picked out Groo #7 and 8 from '85 for me to read, so my first 2 entries for the month are complete. Hmmm why an I craving cheese dip.....?
Also read Tales of the Mysterious Traveler #14 from Oct 1985. There was a back up strip featuring Shadow World,a world ruled by Dark Magic and wizards who wield it to rule, and Athena sending Olympian weapons to a champion to fight for justice, so it's a fantasy story, but not quite a full fantasy comic, so we'll go 2.5 entries so far.

Had a couple of Red Sonja one-shots form Dynamite pulled out for some reason, so read them before putting them away. Monster Isle from 2006 featured the classic team of Roy Thomas and Pablo Marcos doing a story that is a riff on the Isle of Dr. Moreau, and Vacant Shell (with a gorgeous cover by Michael Kaluta) featured Rick Remender and Paul Renaud doing a tale of Sonja vs. a dark priest turning innocents into ghouls. Both solid reads and ups the fantasy total for the month to 4.5. Kaluta's cover... -M

Well this seems like a challenge I cant turn down. Scratching my head to figure out what fantasy I have access to. Conan, Sonja, cerebus, and Fables come to mind...time to restock the tablet too. I'd add Spawn to the list, but thats just plain unreadable now. Do Dr Strange and Spectre count as fantasy, or are they basically supes

So im on 4, Turok Dinosaur Hunter 1 - 4. Do we keep tabs here, or... There are several options. With the really active challenges in the movie forum, we quickly learned it worked best to have a separate list thread. For each Challenge we'd have one discussion thread, and one list thread where each person had one post, which they edited as they added titles. Here is a somewhat mild example of how detailed people can get with their list post: forum.dvdtalk.com/11386012-post18.htmlYou could make new posts for each thing you read, and your total if you're counting, like you did above. Or you could have one post in this thread where you edit and add titles as you read, but still commenting and adding to the discussion with new posts as you see fit. And one could keep their list under a spoiler, especially if it grows large, because scrolling through a page of several large lists mixed in with discussion is somewhat jarring. So either spoiling your list or a separate thread solve that 'problem'.

If you enjoyed the story, I highly recommend reading their followup "Elric" graphic novel from First publishing. It was originally printed as a limited series by Pacific, but they went back and made major revisions for the GN format that make the story flow a lot better.

I'll try, but First and Pacific comics are difficult to get over here. Anyway Elric done. Currently rereading Ravine #1-12 (in the dutch translation again. Not a classic [2012], but it's fantasy.), Lanfeust of Troy (but not its sequel) [1994] and the first issue of the Black Moon Chronicles [1989]

My second entry for the month is Marvel Fanfare #26, an entry in Doug Moench's Weirdworld saga. The definition of fantasy can sometimes be blurry, but I'm sure this tale of elves and dwarves fighting evil wizards on a quest for a mystical sword will neatly fit in to it.

I just read the limited series Avataars: Covenant of the Shield. It's basically an alternate version of the Marvel Universe merged with Arthurian legend. Captain America is now Captain Avalon - King Arthur - and the Avengers are his knights of the round table. There are Arthurian versions of all the various MU heroes and villains. It's pretty fun stuff, though not exactly groundbreaking.

I thought it was mildly entertaining but not something I would ever return to, hence I no longer have those books. -M
