#29 Liberty Belle Alter Ego: Libby Lawrence, later married Johnny Quick She does remind me of Veronica Lake who pictured below Liberty Belle. Veronica LakeHer costume is colorful, function-able, practical, and most importantly she has a very unique insignia on her blouse. I kind of liked her without a mask but to me she does looks good with and without a mask. Her colorful garb of Red, Yellow, and Blue works together like a charm. You just can't beat this combination - my only regret that I wished they used Yellow for the gloves instead the Red shown here. Lovely Costume and still one of my favorites ...

Odd choice of first picture, as it does NOT show her unique original costume with those riding pants and those practical boots. I hated that redesign, it was so standard superhero. Cape and pirate boots, phooey!

Scans of Johnny QuickI just loved his style and motion during the days of the Golden Age of Comics. More great examples below: i One of the earliest Comic Book Covers of Johnny Quick ... Johnny is the hunk among the speedsters. He shows off his hair and more skin, and he is a lot more muscular than the various Flashes and Quicksilvers.

I really like the way movement is portrayed in those Johnny Quick panels.

#28 Max Mercury / QuicksilverAlter Ego: Max Crandall Special Note: Due to the character's indistinct background, decades later writer Mark Waid was free to reinvent the character in The Flash without contradicting anything. When the character reappeared in early 1990s issues of The Flash, his name had to be changed from "Quicksilver" to "Mercury" to avoid confusion with Marvel Comics' Quicksilver. From Wikipedia.
One a personal note, I prefer Max Mercury than Quicksilver! Simple design, red goggles, stylish white tunic, blue leggings and gloves - makes this costume a winner in my book! One of those rare heroes that wears a helmet; similar to Jay Garrick's Flash ... but more streamlined and aerodynamic. Here's a good example of it - shown below for reference use only.

#26 Mary Marvel / #27 Captain Marvel Jr.Alter Ego: Mary Willow Batson (Mary Marvel) Alter Ego: Frederick Christopher "Freddy" Freeman (Captain Marvel Jr.) Mary Marvel at #26Captain Marvel Jr. #27Mary uses Red as the main color of her costume while Captain Marvel Jr. uses Blue as the main color of his costume. Both are clean, crisp, easy on the eyes, dynamic, colorful, and with flair of their great capes that they wear. I ranked them at these two positions alone because of their capes. I'm doing another 2 for 1 here because these two deserved to be ranked at #26 and #27 and having said that - I will be sharing two post of three covers each of Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr. that I consider to be my favorites and that's why I always loved their costumes for a very long time. I'm a sucker for the three primary colors - Red, Blue, and Yellow that done correctly without reservations.

I'm having some reasonable doubts over #25 down to #22 on my countdown and I may have to reshuffle them a bit more. You may have to wait until Wednesday for Number #25.

#25 Doll Man and Doll Girl (2 for 1)Alter Ego: Darrel Dane "The World's Mightiest Mite" Alter Ego: Martha Roberts Simple, Clean, Good Ole Fashioned Costumes that speaks of that era very nicely. I had to re-think about for most of the day yesterday and I one hero - that's next on the list up one more notch and these two at #25 because they often worked together on many of their adventures and having said that - they make a great team and predates the more famous Ray Palmer and Hank Pym by two decades as the Atom and Ant-Man respectfully. I loved the capes and opposite use of colors here. I've originally had Doll Man at #24 and I decided to move him down to #25 and includes his partner Doll Girl to make my 3rd 2 for 1 a trend that I did not expect to happen. That's when you start re-thinking things and there are so many heroes and heroines back in those days.
