*** RULES CHANGES *** for CLASSIC COVERS CONTEST ***
I have been thinking about changing the rules for our weekly Classic Covers Contest and having said that - Here's what I'm proposing.
Wednesday to Sunday
5 Days Period.
All Members submit their covers and during this time frame no member here can not quote any member's post because I've find it very difficult to separate the two and it's often makes one member looks good and bad at the same time. No quoting during this time period and the course of this contest.
Monday to Tuesday
2 Days Period.
Starting at 00:00 PST to 23:00 PST (11 PM on Tuesday) ... Voting Period is expanded during this time window. Ever since I took over from the4thpip we averaged 20 to 26 Members voting and to me this is not acceptable. Why, with the additional day starting on Monday - it will do one thing - it will breaks ties and forces us to have one WINNER and that alone makes it easy for me to declare a winner and expedite a new one immediately. During this time frame - No quoting is allowed.
No Quoting Rule
To me, it's influences a popular cover being discussed too much on these threads and having said that - I'm becoming more and more unhappy to see this and makes it harder to for me to see who owns what. It's makes voting impossible in some cases and I don't mind members here clicking on the "like" button - if they like a certain post on that Classic Cover Contest Thread.
There are some contest that it's gotten way out hand and being bold that I'm - I would like to see this practice terminated. If you don't like this rule we can debate it nicely and with some respect. I've find it to be a nuisance here in these contest(s) and having said that - I'm in favoring of eliminating it all together.
These are the THREE major Rules Changes that I would like to see implemented and we can spend about 2-3 weeks discussing it and by the end of 2-3 weeks I can create a POLL to determine the outcome of these changes and we'll do it in a democratic way possible.
Respectfully Submitted,
MechaGodzilla

maybe start a thread for "Discussion of this week's Classic Cover Contest Entries" ?
it could be a continuing thread.. . ie: same thread used each week.
it's easy enough to "quote" someone, and just copy the info and post into a new thread -- thereby keeping the "confusion" out of the contest thread, but letting folks discuss comic covers that bring back memories, or they want to know more about?
is this suggestion making sense?

I am fine with extending voting. As for quoting, maybe just delete any images from previous posters? If you are worried about seeing someone's cover multiple times because people quote, removing the photo seems easy to do. Having a separate thread seems a bit much. If it becomes too difficult to tally the votes, I will gladly help Mecha

I'm dropping the no quoting rule for good. I've did some additional thinking and it's would take the fun out of the contest. Sorry.

I'm okay with the proposed changes. We almost never get a new entry on the last day of competition, and anything that reduces the likelihood of a tie is okay in my book. And the 'no quoting during voting' will make things easier for our talliers, which I am all in favour of.

I like it the way it is. How many votes will we be gaining with an extra day of voting?

I'm probably the biggest quoter with images here.
If MG wants to eliminate the quoted images, I understand.
Maybe extending the voting a day gets better results.

I would not be in favor of the no quoting rule. I think discussing the covers is one of the main points of having the contest. It's possible the comments and repeated posting of a certain image might affect the voting, but if so, no big deal. And anyway, I know it never affects my votes, so I feel like it probably doesn't really have that much of an influence anyway.

I added a POLL today to make this a Democratic as Possible - You have until September 11th to voice your own opinion. You can choose two options for your tally. Thanks Everyone!

If I vote yes am I voting for no quoting? If I vote for no and I voting for allowing quoting? How is that different from leave it alone?
