If I vote yes am I voting for no quoting? If I vote for no and I voting for allowing quoting? How is that different from leave it alone? -M You are right - No difference at all. I was trying too hard to think of everything - Sorry about that. Leave it Alone is a NO Vote!

*** RULES CHANGES *** for CLASSIC COVERS CONTEST ***I have been thinking about changing the rules for our weekly Classic Covers Contest and having said that - Here's what I'm proposing. Wednesday to Sunday5 Days Period. All Members submit their covers and during this time frame no member here can not quote any member's post because I've find it very difficult to separate the two and it's often makes one member looks good and bad at the same time. No quoting during this time period and the course of this contest. Monday to Tuesday2 Days Period.Starting at 00:00 PST to 23:00 PST (11 PM on Tuesday) ... Voting Period is expanded during this time window. Ever since I took over from the4thpip we averaged 20 to 26 Members voting and to me this is not acceptable. Why, with the additional day starting on Monday - it will do one thing - it will breaks ties and forces us to have one WINNER and that alone makes it easy for me to declare a winner and expedite a new one immediately. During this time frame - No quoting is allowed. No Quoting Rule
To me, it's influences a popular cover being discussed too much on these threads and having said that - I'm becoming more and more unhappy to see this and makes it harder to for me to see who owns what. It's makes voting impossible in some cases and I don't mind members here clicking on the "like" button - if they like a certain post on that Classic Cover Contest Thread.
There are some contest that it's gotten way out hand and being bold that I'm - I would like to see this practice terminated. If you don't like this rule we can debate it nicely and with some respect. I've find it to be a nuisance here in these contest(s) and having said that - I'm in favoring of eliminating it all together.
These are the THREE major Rules Changes that I would like to see implemented and we can spend about 2-3 weeks discussing it and by the end of 2-3 weeks I can create a POLL to determine the outcome of these changes and we'll do it in a democratic way possible.
Respectfully Submitted,
MechaGodzilla I still have no idea what PST even is. Not everybody lives in America. Seems a bit arbitrary to me.

I still have no idea what PST even is. Not everybody lives in America. PST - Is Pacific Standard TimeLinkYes. But that doesn't tell me how it relates to GMT. I don't actually know how far ahead or behind me you are, timewise. Wouldn't it be fairer to say voting is open until a certain date is passed everywhere?

I didn't realize there was problem with the contest that requires changes. I always thought it was odd that the voting day was tuesday. I thought that maybe monday is good for the voting , but I'd rather it stay the same.

I definitely think discussion should be the point of every thread. Even simple comments like "Great choice" are ultimately more important to the thread than the votes.
I do think deleting the image from the quotes in a nice compromise.

I'm guilty of not doing this myself but I've always thought it would be a good practice to link our votes or any other comments to the post we're talking about so readers can quickly remind themselves what that cover looks like. I know I sometimes spend a lot of time searching through the thread trying to find the various images people are voting for or commenting on.

Here's my Recommendations
Voting Change
Slam Bradley Jodoc
This means that everyone that participate in this contest will have to select two members names - the member name in bold is the winning cover and the non-bold name is the runner up.
What I do is to open up a Word Document and put his name 1st and Jodoc Name 2nd
Slam Bradley 1 - Jodoc
Sounds Simple? ... Sounds Simple, to me it is.
26 Votes later ... I have a three way tie for 1st place
Slam Bradley 1 - Jodoc Slam Bradley 2 - Farrar Slam Bradley 3 - Farrar
Jodoc 1 - MechaGodzilla Jodoc 2 - Prince Hal Jodoc 3 - Slam Bradley
Farrar 1 - Jodoc Farrar 2 - Jodoc Farrar 3 - MechaGodzilla
In the tie-breaker - Jodoc got 3 votes, Farrar and MechaGodzilla has 2 votes, and the rest has 1 votes a piece including Slam Bradley. In this case Jodoc is the clear winner in this contest because he commands the most runner-up votes and Farrar is declared the 2nd Place and Slam Bradley the 3rd.
RUNNER UP VOTES Jodoc has 3 votes Farrar has 2 votes Slam Bradley has 1 vote
It's clear to the bell for me and I have been thinking about this for the past 24 hours and this little voting change will make the voting process so much easier for all of us. What all of you have to do is to vote for two covers one in the bold (The Winner) and one in plain font (The Runner Up) and I take care the rest. If you all agree with this change - I can continue doing the contest that I was asked to do. If you do not accept this plan - I will have to bow out and respect all of your opinions on this matter.
Your Thoughts Please

If that's the way MG wants to do it, I'm ok with it.

The cover contest has worked just fine for...probably close to a decade. I can't see any reason to change it.
