Didn't it used to work that whoever won, posted the next contest, and then also tallies the votes on their contest to award the next winner? If Mecha wants to step down (and I do hope he participates in the contests), then maybe just go back to that? It used to be whoever happened to be around at the correct time. There periodically became a regular person because one person's schedule tended to have them logged into the forums when voting ended. I assume that's been Mecha for a while now. But no reason he should shoulder the responsibility. Somebody should just do it when it needs doing.

As mentioned, I could get it done around 7:00 AM ET if that works for people. Just let Mr know and I'll take over starting next week.

I would also throw my name in as a tallier if need be. I'm on Eastern time, but could tally them between 6:00-7:00AM PST on Wednesday morning.

Midnight PST is 7 pm my time (Australian Eastern Daylight time). I'm willing to do the tally if I'm on at that time.

Since we have several people willing to do it when it fits their schedule, I'm thinking we do not need to appoint a specific person to do it. It can be done by committee basically. When one of the people who is willing to do it checks the thread after voting ends and it hasn't been tally, do the tally, post it and notify the winner via PM. If there is a tie, post the entries that are tied and call for a tie breaker, when one is cast, someone can notify the winner.
Doesn't matter who does it, as long as it gets done, no one has to worry about being the one to be there if they have a conflict on a given week (vacation, internet outage, appointment, want to sleep later, sick, whatever), someone else just picks up the slack because they got there and it needed done. No one needs to get stressed out or what have you. We all know the guidelines, we all know what needs done, and any of us can do it if need be and we are willing.
Basically, if you are willing and it still needs done when you check in, just do it.
Just sound off if that works for everyone, if not, then you'll all have to work out something else.

I'll check it first thing in the morning, and if it isn't done by anyone else (like our friend down under), I'll take care of it.
