I wonder how you can reconcile his saving Galactus in FF #244 with his willingness to decimate the entire Universe in this instance? Well, I suppose I'd have to say that I don't accept the premise of the question - that the Reed Richards of FF#244 is the same character as the one in FF#50 or whichever it was - so I don't feel any need to reconcile the two. It might be a good question for whoever wrote FF#244, though. A light bulb went off in my head when you wrote this. You're right. FF #50 was in the 60's, #244 was the 80's and the total pr**k he became during Civil War was in the 2000's. Different eras with different sensibilities .

It just occurred to me that I'd be curious to hear what Tollworthy might have to say about your question, because I believe he does think of the FF series as a unified whole in some sense, up to a certain point that I forget (#300 or so? not sure).

The late Gene Day's run (artist) on the later issues of Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu in the early 1980's. GD is my all time favorite comic artist, ever; this is despite the fact that he doesn't have a large body of work (since he unfortunately passed so young).
Daredevil by Frank Miller (writer/artist) in the early 1980's; plus, FM's later '80's writing for the DD "Born Again" storyline
New Teen Titans by the great George Perez & Marv Wolfman - 1980's
Classic Moon Knight by Bill Sienciewicz's and Doug Moench - 1980's
Arak, Son of Thunder by Tony DeZuniga & ? - DC - 1980's

That is an excellent series!

Thanks - it's been 30+ years since I read Arak, so I had forgotten the writer; the art is what really stood out in my mind - DeZuniga was amazing. IIRC, he may also have drawn some of the Conan comics in the '80's as well.

This list , like many other favorite lists, are a reflection of he year a person started reading comics. Picking Stern/ Buscema over Thomas / Buscema is an example of this.

Trouble, more trouble ...then...Hercules gets his ass whipped into a coma by about 10 supervillains. Can't remember a better run without the obligatory death that was expected by then.

It was a great scene seeing all the villains beating him. It was later done in JLA/ Avengers when Superman was jumped by She Hulk, Hercules, Wonderman and others. Superman is the strongest but not stronger than all of them combined. Same regarding Hercules, and he was also drunk at the time.
