One lone human is never enough for them to torment....um toy with. It's a sign of their inherent superiority! -M (bowing to the great cat masters in hopes that I may escape their wrath and/or notice so that my brood of felines does not grow back towards double digits again)

Just curious to see where everyone lives.
I'm in Oklahoma City, land of mighty tornadoes, and recently, numerous earthquakes. I'm gonna be in Norman this weekend to visit with my son who's there on a business trip -- know of any half-decent comic shops, used bookstores, and second-hand CD stores in the area??

Yeah !
Norman has a fairly famous comic shop, Speeding Bullet Books & Comics. Matt & Annette Price own it, and Matt contributes to the Oklahoman newspaper.
Will you be going north into OKC ? I can refer you to 2 very good shops there.

I can refer you to 2 very good shops there. Both of whom were copy editors (I think ... one of 'em may've been a page designer) at the Democrat-Gazette in Little Rock in the '90s during my tenure there as night city editor. Not that I knew of their interest in comics then, & of course I was several years from getting back into the field myself.

Torrance, CA
Southern part of Los Angeles county. About 15 minutes from the beach...mostly well known to Whedon-ites as Sunnydale. Yep, Torrance HS was Sunnydale High and Buffy's house is walking distance from my place. I go to school in Gardena, Normandie and Gardena BLVD.

Arkansas is probably one of the prettiest states I've been too. I must have been to the other part.

I noticed there were two HPB outlets in OKC. Thanks for the heads up!

Another couple goods spots to check out in OKC : All-Star Comics, New World Comics on Meridian, and Atomik Pop on the south side on Western. All good stores.

I go to school in Gardena, Normandie and Gardena BLVD. Just a hop skip and a jump from the palatial estate.. The best store in that immediate area, IMO, is Geoffrey's Comics. Sadly, Geoffrey, the owner passed away a few months ago. I imagine his wife has probably taken it over, but he had great deals and deep stock going back 40+ years. Besides having a great store, he was a genuinely warm and wonderful person. I'm sad I can't see him again.

They do a good job of promoting it and have a cafe next door called the Ricochet Cafe.

Cool. As night editor, I interacted a lot more with the copy editors & page designers (Little Rock is one of the relatively few papers that still, AFAIK, maintains those as separate positions) than did any of my city desk brethren. Hell, I'm basically a copy editor at heart; always have been.

Is this the face of Dan B ? I'm not feeling the Arkansan vibe or the Lord of Multiple Cats thing with this picture

I like their shop as they're one of the best back issue shops for Golden to Bronze Age. But my shop of choice is The Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach. They're a little less cluttered and their in-store events are more community stronger.
