The best store in that immediate area, IMO, is Geoffrey's Comics. Sadly, Geoffrey, the owner passed away a few months ago. I imagine his wife has probably taken it over, but he had great deals and deep stock going back 40+ years. Besides having a great store, he was a genuinely warm and wonderful person. I'm sad I can't see him again. Geoffrey's Comics is still going...Geoffrey Jr has taken over the business. I've been a customer at the store for many years. I like their shop as they're one of the best back issue shops for Golden to Bronze Age. But my shop of choice is The Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach. They're a little less cluttered and their in-store events are more community stronger. I've been there and liked that one too. True about the less cluttered. Didn't know Geoffrey had a son. Good to see it stay in the family and carry on the business.

Is this the face of Dan B ? I'm not feeling the Arkansan vibe or the Lord of Multiple Cats thing with this picture. As if. I've never had a flattop (a crewcut, yes, but not since my era of punkest rectitude some 30 years ago) or a mustache not paired with a goatee or (far less often) full beard.

I guess it was the glint in his eye that threw me off. I've had a moustache since college and either a beard or goatee. After my first divorce shaved both off for a while. Now back to 'stache and goatee, but both very low cut.

This would be a pretty representative pic of me. Hair's a bit grayer, though, I'm sure; that was 2 years ago.
(Time for a haircut then; time for a haircut now -- it's about the same length. When left to my own devices, I'd go about 8 months between cuts. These days, working on an Air Force base, it's more like 2 1/2 .)

Mine has a lot of wave and if I let it grow out a little I suddenly remember why I keep it short. There's always a spot somewhere I can't control and it gets crazy.

Dead ringer, I'm sure. (Not that I'd ever wear the hat, of course.)

I'm living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and was born and brought up in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
Cons were being talked about - they started holding one here in Ottawa, or just outside it, a few years ago so I finally went to my first one this past spring. It was interesting but probably not something I'll want to do again for a few years, if ever. I'm 52, but the that didn't bother me too much, probably because I was with a couple friends around the same age and spent most of my time looking at back issues. I don't really get the idea of meeting comics creators or actors - I wouldn't know what to say to them in that sort of situation. I could see myself attending a talk by someone like Nimoy or Shatner, though, or a writer like Morrison, who I know is a good speaker from seeing some of his talks and interviews online.
