#14 FuryAlter Ego - Hippolyta "Lyta" Trevor-Hall First Appearance Wonder Woman # 300 (February 1983) Bronze Age Costume Features that I like the mostI just loved her Gold Gloves and Boots - as a former Wrestling Fan - check out her ornamental belt and a creative use of both Red and Yellow in her design. Classy Headdress too! Great Pictures of Fury! Her fancy belt - reminds me a Championship Belt in WWF/WWE days! Close Up of the Classy Headdress Here! ... This prompt her at #14 along with her Gloves and Boots too! I fell in love the design of Fury's costume the first time I saw it (which was in Who's Who). Infinity, Inc became one of my favourite titles, but it was ultimately ruined by Crisis. Once Infinity existed in the same world as the Titans, the Outsiders etc., the hook of them being the second generation and therefore the only young heroes on their world and with an enormous reputation to live up to was gone. They were just one more hero team among many.

#12 Amazing ManAlter Ego - Will Everett First Appearance All-Star Squadron #23 (July 1983) Bronze Age Costume Features that I like the mostThe best Green, Yellow, and touches of black trim. I would ranked it much higher if the cape was a two-tone cape - yellow in the insides and green on the outsides. Loved the fancy A on his chest, Ultra-Cool Belts and Wrist Bands too. Worthy at Number 12. I also liked his headdress too. Bold, Incredibly Designed and one of the best costumes in All-Star Squadron History. Picture 1.My favorite cover of All-Star Squadron featuring Amazing Man! ... I still have this issue today Pictures 2 to 4The Headdress / Mask of Amazing Man is one of my favorites!

#11 BatgirlAlter Ego - Barbara Gordon First Appearance Batman #139 (April 1961) Silver and Bronze Ages Costume Features that I like the mostBold, Simple, Crisp, and Elegantly Drawn - Sleek, her Bat Insignia is superb and most importantly one of my favorites in the Silver Age of Comics. Just Beautiful! Pictures 1 to 3Barbara Gordon to Batgirl Transformation! Picture 4 - My Favorite Picture of BatgirlIf this was Batgirl Costume in the Silver Age of Comics - It would be my Number 1!

#12 Amazing ManAlter Ego - Will Everett First Appearance All-Star Squadron #23 (July 1983) Bronze Age, He appeared in the Golden Age just briefly and I'm sticking to that story. The word retcon is still a sticky-wicket to me.Costume Features that I like the mostThe best Green, Yellow, and touches of black trim. #11 BatgirlAlter Ego - Barbara Gordon First Appearance Batman #139 (April 1961) Silver and Bronze Ages Hey Mecha, I'm loving your thread and I don't mean to nitpick, but the Barbara Gordon Batgirl's first appearance was in Detective Comics #395, cover-dated January 1967. The Batman #139/April 1961 date you have there is for the earlier Betty Kane Bat-Girl, a different character...and probably just the result of a misplaced copy and paste.

There was a Golden Age Amazing Man but he's unrelated to the 1980s one above. I'm dying to use some of his covers for one of the weekly cover contests but so far the right opportunity hasn't presented itself.

You know, thinking about it, I think she could carry her own series.
I'm biased, but I think she could.

There was a Golden Age Amazing Man but he's unrelated to the 1980s one above. The 80s character's name, Will Everett, is a tribute to Bill Everett, who created the 30s version. I'm not sure if Amazing Man was before or after Bill's best-known creation, Sub-Mariner. Bill and Roy Thomas became close friends in the last decade of Bill's life.

I'm not sure if Amazing Man was before or after Bill's best-known creation, Sub-Mariner. Bill and Roy Thomas became close friends in the last decade of Bill's life. Ah! "Will Everett", of course, that makes sense. Thanks for the background info. As for who came first, we know that Everett had created Sub-Mariner (for an earlier promotional insert--not sure if it was actually published anywhere though) at some time prior to Subby's debut in Marvel Comics #1, so Namor may have predated AM in terms of conception/creation. In terms of publication dates: checking Mike's Amazing Newsstand, it seems that Amazing-Man #5 (which was the first issue of that comic) and Marvel Comics #1 were both on the newsstands in August 1939. Mike gives the "on sale" dates as August 11 for AM #5 and August 31 for Marvel Comics #1. www.dcindexes.com/features/newsstand.php?type=calendar&month=8&year=1939

Batgirl's costume: feminine, ties to her Batman, yet her solo adventures definitely cemented her as her own heroine. I liked how she was not bored a socialite girlfriend or a relative of Batman or Robin. She had a job and later in her career was even a member of Congress! She didn't take any lip from Batman when he tried to deter her from crimefighting. Her costume is classy and mysterious. I like her little red bag. The costume colors against her red hair are striking. The stylized bat boots are a feminine, nice touch.I like the earlier version with the black coloring rather than the later gray. A great costume for a very memorable character. The tv show costume was cool as well. She looked best when drawn by Infantino. Also liked the Don Heck Batgirl art.

#10 Firestorm, The Nuclear ManAlter Ego - Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein Note: The original Firestorm was distinguished by his integrated dual identity. High school student Ronnie Raymond and Nobel Prize-winning physicist Martin Stein were caught in a nuclear accident that allowed them to fuse into the "nuclear man" Firestorm. First Appearance - March 1978Bronze Age Costume Features that I like the mostFuturistic, Bold, Unique, Great Use of Red, Yellow, and White, Fancy Sun-Like Insignia, and a Fabulous Mask! Impeccable Design - One of the best I've seen in DC Comics History! Fabulous Pictures of Firestorm, the Nuclear Man!Great Addition to the Superfriends Cartoon Show!I got real excited when he appeared on this show!
