I'm conflicted, having spent so many years rounding up the individual issues of the series (starting with Moench's first issue) as well as some copies of Deadly Hands of Kung Fu that Shang appeared in. But I will surely break down get the omnibus collections. They do look nice on the shelf. They suck to sit down and read comfortably though. For reading purposes I'd rather have Epic collections. I could travel and read them or at least sit back on the couch and easily flip through them. Omnibus editions can be a bit unwieldy. Usually, I stay away from high priced books that reprint material I have, but if they drop in price , I'll get it. If they offered that MOKF for around 60 in eBay , I would buy it. My regular shop here in LA sells all Marvel and Dc trades (hardcovers, tpb, omnibuses, everything) 40% off whether they are new or old. So every day is a sale. Image 30% off, other publishers in the 10-20% range. This is the main reason I'm going in on the omnibus. I can get it cheap. Well, $75 cheap that is. Otherwise I'd say screw it and just keep chasing the singles. (Which I know I could have just bought up from Mycomicshop.com a while ago. But I love the hunt and flipping through bins).

Yeah, I always feel that flipping through boxes makes this hobby really fun. Finding treasure and such.

The announcement that Marvel would start to collect Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu in September 2015 (in a series of Omnibuses) was definitely the best collected edition news I ever heard. MOKF had been the #1 series I wanted reprinted for years, and the fact that it would finally happen was amazing news.
I got the first MOKF Omni past June & I'm enjoying the immensely. I haven't read this title in years (my floppies are long gone), so it was great to see this series with remastered art & color, and on high-quality paper.
I'm looking forward to Omni #2 (later this month), as well as #3-4 next year. I'm especially looking forward to Omni #4, which will probably be focused on the Gene Day-drawn issues.
It will also be great to see the Deadly Hands of Kung Fu magazine reprinted in 2 Omnis, since I never read that series. From what I'm heard, back issues of DHOKF are especially expensive & HTF these days.
Kudos and Thanks to everyone at Marvel who made reprints of these great series finally come to pass!

I'm really torn on whether to finish buying these Shang-Chi omnibi. I never read the series, but have heard rave reviews for decades. That, and the rumors that it'll go out of print quickly due to rights issues, made me pre-order the first omnibus.
Today is my deadline to get a $62.50 pre-order price on the third, and the second is the same price at IST. I can't find my first omnibus to read it and verify that I'll enjoy it as much as I think I will. Decisions....

Volume 3 and 4 will be some of the best written and drawn comics ever. If you like spy and thriller action movies then this is the series to buy. Lots of Mike Zeck and Gene Day stunning artwork for the final volumes.

For sixty-odd bucks you will get one of the very best comic-book runs of the '70s. The Paul Gulacy work in there is outstanding, and at that time the series hadn't yet started to try and recapture its glory days... it was living them!!! It's the equivalent of the Claremont-Byrne-Austin era for the X-Men.

Agreed - I didn't read many of the Paul Gulacy-era issues, but the ones I did read were truly incredible.
I just got word that my MOKF Omni #2 will be shipped soon - really looking forward to this. If someone had told me a couple of years ago that the entire MOKF series would be reprinted in 4 Omnis - over the course of about 2 years - I wouldn't have believed this.

Just got the MOKF Omni #2 in the mail today - stunning volume! As was said, the Gulacy art is f$#@%#@ gorgeous! I try not to curse on these boards, but I think the expletive is warranted here - amazing stuff. I remember reading a back issue of #47 back in the early '80's...this really brings back memories. All of the issues reproduced here are stellar, but the Gulacy ones more than the others. I'll try to post a more detailed review after I finish reading this. I did notice the Marlon Brando likeness in one of the issues I pre-ordered this from Amazon on sale & got a sale price, and I just checked & it's back to the full price ($125) today. I have a feeling these MOKF Omnis will be tough to track down in the future.

Recently got the MOKF Omni #3, and am extremely pleased with this volume. Truly gorgeous. Mike Zeck's art looks great here. The later issues reprinted here were the ones I actually remember getting off the stands, starting in the late '90's. My favorite issue in this volume is #100 - it looks like Gene Day drew the first 15-16 pages (the first part of the story). Truly stunning work here. I like the inclusion of the "What if?" issue at the end of the volume - very nice. Looking forward to the final & best Omni, out later this year. This will feature art by the late GD, who IMHO is the best comic book artist of all time, ever. The original cover art looks interesting: www.amazon.com/Shang-Chi-Master-Kung-Fu-Omnibus-Vol/dp/130290132X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1490297239&sr=1-1&keywords=master+of+kung+fu+omnibus+vol+4

Usually i'm not one to splurge on the Marvel omni's due to the inflated pricing Marvel has for them. But since this is a one time get em while you can before they go up in price even more, i did take the plunge and pre-order all 4 MOKF and the 2 Deadly Hands of Kung Fu volumes. Glad that i did because they are scrumptious and i really enjoy that they include the letters pages and various in house ads Marvel would run in their monthly's. I blew through the 1st omni in a matter of days and am holding off on the 2nd and 3rd books just to make myself take the extra time and slowly pore over the goodness to be found within.

Got the first and third so far. The first wasn't very good until it got towards the end, but I expect I'll love the third volume, all Moench & Zeck.

Though these MOKF & DHOKF Omnis are on the expensive side ($125 retail each, though you can get them on sale for less) they are worth every penny. I believe the price is more expensive than other Marvel Omnis of this size due to the deal that Marvel had to make with the SR estate in order to come to an agreement re: these reprints. In fact, it's a minor miracle these Omnis ever came out at all...based on what I've been reading on the MMW forums, Marvel had probably been trying to negotiate a deal to reprint the MOKF/DHOKF titles for years before something agreeable was actually reached in 2015. I agree that - based on the popularity of these Omnis - I have no doubt that those who miss out on these will regret it later; I'm sure the price on the secondary market will go up.

I don't know, it seems like the prices are going up across the board. $125 seems to be the new normal, and why is the Fraction/Aja Hawkeye, which is a (no pun intended) fraction of the size of most others, $100??
