Pym is one of my favorite characters in all of comics. I hated when he was savaged by Jim Shooter , but it was a good story. One of mine, too. Though I was never that fond of the blue and yellow Goliath costume. The first Goliath costume I ever saw was this one, and it's still my preferred one.

I read somewhere that the black design on Ant-Man's costume was meant to represent the head of an ant, with the antennae encircling his neck. Very interesting nugget of information there, Phil. But I'm not sure I 100% believe it. It sounds a bit like something that was made up after the fact, when it occurred to someone (Kirby?) that it would be a good idea/explanation.

Sub Mariner: perfect for an underwater character who swims. I think he only wears trunks as he is built and proud of his physique. He sees no need to cover it up. Kind of like Hawkman, anyone who goes into the super hero/anti-hero business shirtless (and in this case pantless) is no doubt very sure of himself. Very regal and imposing looking. I always imagined Namor to be very tall.
Quicksilver: For me, one of the very best Marvel costumes. The colors, the design, even his hair style. I prefer the blue version of the costume. Not sure why they went with green in the beginning. Enjoyed the early scenes he shared with his sister, often questioning Magneto, but going along with him anyway!
Falcon: a unique design, with great colors. He "looks" like a Falcon. Interesting boots and a very stylish mask.
Antman: Another favorite design. The red, blue, black, and silver colors pop. The helmet is stylish, sharp, clean. Doesn't come across as cumbersome. Great design.
Goliath: I like that look as well. The visor mask and the blue/yellow colors. A little less complicated than his Antman look.
Invisible Girl: her outfit ties her to her team, although she fills the costume out better than her teammates. I like how they changed her hairstyle throughout the 60s to give her a look that set her apart from the rest of the Fantastic Four.

Sungirl is very pretty and she reminds me of Veronica Lake too. That cover is funny....the subway riders enthralled with reading a magazine about Sungirl and not even noticing she is right there with them! I like her boots and gloves. Cool hair as well.

My All-Time Favorite Picture of Giant Man - In Marvels Sorry to be a pedant, but I don't think that's a picture from Marvels. It looks to be a 3D computer generated piece of artwork, whereas Marvels had painted artwork by Alex Ross like this... Same costume though....maybe that's what you meant.

Two more characters I absolutely love: Vision has been a favourite of mine since I first discovered him at the age of about six, and I've been following Shulkie since her first issue in 1980. I think the John Byrne She-Hulk series in particular was a classic.

In Alter Ego #13, Roy Thomas had this to say about the Vision's look: "Jack Kirby had done a Vision back in the '40s. I sent you [John Buscema] a picture of that one, but I asked for the diamond symbol on his chest-and you added, on your own, that jewel on his forehead."
