I object to the politicization of comic books - the writers often times do a poor job of it, to the point it insults the readers' intelligence. Most Unc anny X-men plots insult my intelligence, without even being political...

I have trouble imagining most Tea Party types enjoying comics in the first place. All the social justice and liberal views...even Archie Comics have a gay character now... Mainstream comics worrying about them seems like TV writers worrying how the Amish will react to their show. If I recall correctly, one of our forum regulars candidly admitted to being a Tea Party supporter.

Nick Spencer says in this interview that the politics in Captain America aren't going to be as one-sided as the first issue perhaps implied.

Has Captain America (the series) ever been written by a non-American writer, out of curiosity?

Has Captain America (the series) ever been written by a non-American writer, out of curiosity? James Robinson (Vol. 2) and Dave Gibbons (vol. 4) both wrote short runs on Cap and both are Brits. -M

In the Marvel Universe, The Homosexual Agenda is a real super-villain organization that wants to force all Americans into same-sex marriage. And the president really is an Islamarxistofascist Mastermind who wants to impose Sharia law! Only Captain America can save us from the tyranny of ObamaCare!

My wife just texted me this link to a excerp from the Daily Show discussing politics in comic books. It sounds as if people don't like others politics in comics more than politics in general. And by people I mean those in the video not in this thread. www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153668559146800

An interesting bit of trivia. In 1964 Joe Sinnott illustrated a comic series that dramatized the story of Tim Pettigrew's quest for the Presidency in the 1976 campaign. Worth reading if only for the Sinnott artwork, but for other reasons as well. Telling more would detract from the series'intent, however. If you'd like to read the series, it is here: cuomeka.wrlc.org/files/original/0487a1750455f11466b857ae3b9ea76b.pdf
