That Sugar & Spike strip sounds terrible.
Cei-U! I summon the huge disappointment!

I dunno... I am a value consumer, and I definitely am more likely to buy stuff if the price per page is low.
But I'm guessing that this will show up in the fifty cent bins before too long. I can wait.

That Sugar & Spike strip sounds terrible. Cei-U! I summon the huge disappointment! Wow. I only skimmed the creative teams. Wow. I WAS excited for a Keith Giffen Sugar and Spike revival. Now I am not. Honestly, I could have dealt with S & S as adult detectives, but not some in continuity superhero-centric bullshit. This would have been unthinkable for me to say in 1997 but Make Mine Marvel, I guess. (Did I tell you my Marvel pull is up to three titles! That is the most ever!)

I love Tom Derenick's comment about him having a busy 2016. He, Cliff Richards and random Brazilian artist #6 won't have to worry about making their mortgage payments next year.

They need to relaunch Spider-man and Batman again. That will solve everything.

It's almost like the long term readership is burnt out on the event-relaunch-event-relaunch cycle and the new readership doesn't have the patience for it. Who woulda thunk it?

For the most part, I'm kind of on the fence about it. DC is trying, yet failing, to make itself stand out on the racks as Marvel just laps up the money. Everything DC has tried to do in an attempt to ape Marvel (marketing it's own diversity, etc) has just come back to bit it where the sun don't shine, which is sad considering how much earnest effort it's putting into the majority of it's books
The DC's fanbase is completely different than Marvel's and trying to cater to the tastes/interests of your competition is just asking for trouble (New Coke ring any bells?)

Problem with DC right now is that I just don't trust them anymore (reaching back to the final issue of Stormwatch Team Achilles and Jim Shooter's run on the 3boot Legion and that final issue, but there are far more incidents over the years) and therefore are less willing to give them a chance when they do try something decent (which forms a vicious circle, I know; every time they do something interesting I'm hesitant to buy into it because I think it won't last, so it doesn't get the support it deserves and therefore gets cancelled so they can do another Batbook.)
Meanwhile Image is putting out more books I'm interested in than I can buy, so I'm even less likely to check out DC's current line-up and only check titles based on word of mouth on this and other forums. I *am* interested in their new attempts to revive Vertigo though.

While DC's more out there stuff doesn't often last, they usually let the writers come to a (Sometimes rushed) end. I feel like Image books just disappear for months or years without explanation, or something with a really sad, annoying explanation. Peter Panzerfaust, for instance... or Five Ghosts. I'm almost at a point where I want the series to end before I read it.

Barbiere tweeted a few days ago that Five Ghosts hasn't just disappeared, it's on hiatus while he and Mooneyham recharge their batteries after 3 years on it and they are figuring out where to go next. -M

I'm almost at a point where I want the series to end before I read it. I understand Dizzy's feeling. I'm more of a DC guy, but I'm still vastly angry at their cancelling Top 10 season 2 midway through. And I put Prez on my pull list because it was supposed to be an ongoing, not cut off as a mini after 6 issues. There are many many exemples. And I don't particularly trust new Vertigo eihter. I mean come on : one of their new writer is the creator of the TV show Supernatural, one is a goth chick, one is Gail Simone... Not really what I'm expecting from Vertigo. I have about 25 Image books on my pull list, and most take regular breaks, but still get on with their publication to an at least satisfactory conclusion.
