Because, wow, I'm only five episodes into the DVDs and apparently there was a lot I didn't know.
I thought Multiplex was a take-off on Multi-Man (a Challs of the Unknown villain) or MAYBE Riot, but - nope! - wikipedia sez Firestorm villain.
I know the Mist fought Starman and Black Canary in Brave and the Bold, but I don't remember him from the Starman Archives. (Or is that just my awful memory?) I'm 99% sure he was a Golden Age villain, and 95% sure he never fought B.C. before Brave and the Bold 61.
Plastique showed up in crowd scenes in Infinite Crisis or one of those damn crossover books, but I don't know where she originally appeared. Something in me is saying Outsiders? Was she the one hanging out with the Suicide Squad for a couple issues?
Wade Eilling was a Captain Atom villain, but I only know that from reading Back Issue - I've never read the Cary Bates series.
Hmmmm... there's a Caitlin (Snow?) who's dead excuse me "dead" boyfriend is Ronnie.
Dangit, doesn't the Flash have a deep enough pool of villains that they don't have to borrow characters I barely know? I actually had friends asking me comic book questions I couldn't answer! It was embarrassing!
(Pretty dang good show, though!)

The Flash villains like Capt Cold, Heatwave & the Trickster will show up. I figure by using other non-Flash characters is a way the TV show can broaden their use of other DC characters. Season 2 uses other characters in different ways (Atom Smasher is an E2 villain for example).

More non-Flash villains who show up eventually in the first season include Deathbolt (loosely based on the All-Star Squadron villain) and Everyman from 52/Infinity Inc. Caitlin Snow is the name of the current comic version of Killer Frost. Some actual Flash villains who do show up are Grodd and Peekaboo. There has also been some fun villain choices for the current season.

The Mist was an authentic Golden Age villain who battled Starman three times in the '40s. He was a chemist who discovered an invisibility serum that made him seem to be a disembodied head and hands on a body of clouds. The B&B story was his first (and only) Silver Age appearance. He next appeared complete with genuine super-powers as a member of the Ultra-Humanite's incarnation of the Secret Society of Super-Villains in Justice League of America #195-97, then with the same team in the All-Star Squadron story arc that introduced Infinity, Inc. I don't know all his post-Crisis appearances outside of the Robinson/Harris StArman series and a story arc in Sandman Mystery Theater.
Cei-U! I summon the villainous v.c.!

Season 2 uses other characters in different ways (Atom Smasher is an E2 villain for example). To clarify, Atom Smasher wasn't originally a villain. He was the (originally) Earth Two hero Nuklon, of Infinity Inc (Atom Smasher was the name he adopted when he joined the JSA).

Dangit, doesn't the Flash have a deep enough pool of villains that they don't have to borrow characters I barely know? They have used Reverse Flash, Zoom, Grodd, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Golden Gliders, both Tricksters, Girder, Rainbow Raider, Captain Boomerang, hopefully eventual good guy Pied Piper... I'm still hoping for Abra Kaddabra, Mirror Master, Murmer, both Turtles, The Top, Black Flash, Mr Element/Dr Alchemy, Cobalt Blue, Folded Man...

I don't think anyone has mentioned Weather Wizard, another genuine Flash villain who has showed up.
Emily Kinney played Bug-Eyed Bandit, who is a male Atom villain. I take it the comic version is probably very different from that TV version of the character.
I looked up Sand Demon (who shows up in season 2), and he's another Firestorm villain. I wonder if the folks who run The Flash were specifically given the Firestorm cast of characters as one to draw from. That seems like the second biggest source of characters. It's appropriate in a sense, because Firestorm was briefly a back-up feature in Flash in the years before Firestorm's first two series. Arrow also poaches from other series - for example, taking both Deathstroke and H.I.V.E. from Titans.

to be fair at least, Firestorm is/was on the show, so I have no issue with the use of his villains.
(and also to mention, Caitlyn Snow/Killer Frost, is also a big Firestorm villain).

but yes. . really, really want to see Mister Element/Dr Alchemy. . and ESPECIALLY Abra Kadabra (since Arrow has really established Magic exists. . . .maybe Zatanna as a guest star in the episode that Abra appears in). . . even tho Abra fakes "magic" with future tech.

(And Firestorm villains make sense, giving how strongly they are hinting at an eventual Ronnie/Firestorm reappearance.) I'm pretty up on the Flash villains - although I don't know who Peek-A-Boo is. I WAS happy to see the Mist (thanks Cei-U!) and I'd really like to see the creators dip deeper into the Golden Age Villain pool. Bring on Thorn, the Fiddler, Huntress and Sportsmaster, the Shade, Vandal Savage.... Supposedly Jay Garrick shows up, so that might hasten things along. The Captain Cold episode was BY FAR the best of the first six, which gives me hope for the other A list villains. They've basically already announced Grodd and the Reverse Flash. I hope Cold becomes a recurring cast member.

I thought it was quite odd that their version of the "Rainbow Raider" was essentially the Psycho Pirate. I'm expecting the Turtle and the Mirror Master sometime this season. And if the producers asked me what guest heroes I'd like to see, Black Lightning and the Creeper would be my picks.

Oh yeah! I would really like to see the Turtle. (Although I think he's a generic psycho-killer type in modern comics. Or should I just say "Geoff Johns villan?")
