IMO there's nothing wrong with Cosmic Boy's costume. If Saturn Girl, Projectra, and Shady can wear scanty attire, no reason why C Boy shouldn't Have been able to as well. Frankly I thought Phantom Girl's bell-bottomed costume was ridiculous (for a crimefighter). Good point, but I never cared for Saturn Girl's pink bathing suit costume (though I'm sure I'm in the minority) but I did love Phantom Girl's disco inspired bell-bottoms, and still do.

However, I LOVE Starboy's costume. Best. Costume. Ever. LSH have had some fantastic costumes since the 70s and that one is definitely one of them - two other all-time greats: the Lightning Lad one with the part-white legs and the bolts on the shoulder; Shrinking Violet's green/black Cockrum costume

I hear you--I didn't like that costume of Saturn Girl's either! I get they were trying to modernize and sex up her look, but that sort of "bathing suit" costume just seemed unlikely attire for someone who for many years had usually been portrayed as cerebral and no-nonsense. It just didn't fit Imra's established personality IMO. And even though I commented that I find PG's bell-bottomed look unsuitable for crimefighting, I will admit it was cute; and it's character-appropriate.

I remember reading an interview with Cockrum years ago (in "Back Issue" most likely), where he mentions the "markings" on Violet's costume that he designed, are actually a stylized lettering that spells out her code name. but I've never been able to figure that one out.

I cannot find the thread now where someone posted up the glorious LoSH scans from the 90s where they had big hair, big heads, flashy costumes, and their bodies were crazy weird. It was hilariously horrible and fun. Does anyone have those scans??

Let's do a six part crossover between our three books. We'll get Stuart Immonen, Colleen Doran and Chris Gardner as artists. Most of you are familiar with the first two names and now you know why you aren't familiar with the third.

Wow, that's some ugly art! Gotta love those 90's. Well, not really. It's the style of what he was drawing (mullets, thong outfits that make no sense, crazy facial expressions), not so much the artist's art itself, I think. It's what we demanded back then, or what comics creators thought we demanded (or what they wanted us to demand).

The Saturn Girl bathing suit costume that debuted in Action #392 was credited to a reader, K. Haven Metzger, of Indiana. According to an essay by that same Kim Metzger in the TwoMorrows book The Best of the Legion Outpost, Metzger was inspired to create a new look for Imra because of another reader's letter that criticized the female Legionnaires for looking too covered up: "Couldn't the heroines' costumes be a little more...well...a little less?" Weisinger's reply: "Who are you thinking of--Saturn Girl? Take a look at Dream Girl, Shadow Lass and Princess Projectra. If their outfits were much smaller we might not get them past the Comics Code."
So Metzger submitted a design for a new costume for Saturn Girl, and it was used starting in Action #392. Metzger had also submitted a new design for Supergirl and was mentioned--along with other readers who'd submitted new designs for Kara--in Adventure #398.
Btw, it is Mr. Metzger.

Yes, but "we" does not include me, since I happily skipped the 90's in terms of comics. Well, it's still better than the LOSH leather jacket phase.
