Great catch, Farrar! (No pun intended...) LOL! Thanks, Prince Hal! Wonder if Infantino laid out or suggested the Detective and B&B covers.

Great catch, Farrar! (No pun intended...) LOL! Thanks, Prince Hal! Wonder if Infantino laid out or suggested the Detective and B&B covers. It would make sense for lots of reasons. To me it's the Detective that looks more like an Infantino layout than the B and B. If he gave Neal a rough sketch or idea for that one, I don't think he followed it too closely. The composition is better; you know just where to look. When you look at the B and B cover, you don't know immediately where this is, the logos and the figures all compete for your first look. Even the balloons are all over the place and get in the way. On an unrelated note, I hated when they'd color Batman's cape and cowl too much like a powder blue. And Adams would sometimes not dram the black portion of Batman's mask. Big mistake, if you ask me. That black "face" on the mask is the difference between menacing and just another superhero.

Hondobrode's 1974 Tomb of Darkness cover for last week's "good scientists" cover contest reminded me of this 1967 Thor cover:

Not sure if this one's been posted already, but I don't think so? (Action Comics cover is by the great Nick Cardy)

Another superhero kicked out of town... on sale in November of '68. DC loved this idea.
