I guess back in the Golden age, The creators figured that comics were a throw away genre and they could get away with it.

Masked Raider #15 (October, 1958) and Gunfighters #63 (November, 1980), both published by Charlton. Not an homage--more of a reprint, and not bothering to simply have an artists create a new cover with art styles of the then-current day (e.g. Marvel Tales, Fantasy Masterpieces, World's Finest, etc.). But, it was Charlton, so the cheap way was the only way to go!

One of my earliest comics was this one with Combatra (who could divide into five vehicles like Voltron) squaring off against The Hand of Five, whose five dragon head-fingers could fly around separately like rockets. When I was eight, this was the coolest thing in the universe.
