I love this thread. Every time I come here I feel less and less guilty about my... erm... 'referencing' of other people's art.

Two issues of JLA that are a bit similar: spooky guy rising from/above a tomb, hand outstretched with distinctive ghostly coloring. Plus floating heads.

Two issues of JLA that are a bit similar: spooky guy rising from/above a tomb, hand outstretched with distinctive ghostly coloring. Plus floating heads. As noted in the "JLA in the 1970s" thread, the super-heroes were doing an awful lot of necromancy in that period. This one is from a seance, not a tomb, but same idea.

Well, now we know why Rob Liefeld never responded to criticism of his hideously barrel-chested Captain America image. It's because he didn't want people digging to find out that it was actually a swipe homage of Keith Pollard's drawing of Nuclear Man.

Just when you thought we'd seen all possible variations, here's black-haired El Sorprendente Hombre Araña!... I love that in the last couple of days, many of us comic book fans/comic book history lovers who previously didn't know anything about El Sorprendente Hombre Araña now do, thanks to Twitter, FB, forums, etc. Social media done right, IMO! The artist is José Luis Durán and now his work is now all over the net, on the comics sites anyway. His work is like a mishmash of Romita's Spidey (of course) with some Kirby and Ditko.
