Doesn't Grodd eat brains now in the Nu52? I don't really know if I want more of that. Grodd's been eating people or threatening to, since the 80s, I think. Pre-Waid Flash.

I don't remember that. EDIT: Doing some research, that was something added to the character post-Silver/Bronze Age, such as during Cornell's Action Comics run.

incompetent sidekicks that get in the way both on the hero and villain side, bonus points if his name is Whitey talking gorillas doing just about anything, blundering misunderstood aliens causing problems, dinosaurs that can talk and fly jets, and space kangaroos superhero telethons and other charitable activities needing a superhero friend to help out to prevent your secret identity from being exposed Ambush Bug running amok, not on tv Which would turn New52 into....this... Would that sell in 2014? Sales are DC's problem, not mine.

Sales are DC's problems, aren't they?

The point is, ladies and gentleman, that goofy, for lack of a better word, is good. Goofy is right, goofy works. Goofy clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Goofy, in all of its forms, has marked the upward surge of mankind. And goofy, you mark my words, will not only save comic books, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.

He was definitely doing it by the late 90s, because it was Chuck Dixon and Grant Morrison's take and Morrison flat referred to it as something he does "now." I may be wrong, because I can't remember if it was in Flash or with Flash, but I want to blame Gerard Jones. I'd bet five bucks on it, but I wouldn't put up deeds. Anyone know what I'm thinking of?

I think you're thinking of the crossover between the 90's Green Lantern and Flash series that Gerard Jones did with Mark Waid, though I think Grodd was concerned with some magic meteorite and he and Hector Hammond teamed up. I don't recall Chuck Dixon ever working on the Flash though.

Meh, that doesn't really justify it for me. I prefer the classic refined, in control of his savagery Grodd. I think it was Geoff Johns that started the trend of making Grodd into an overly violent beast. Which is why I liked Grodd of War...if I want a cuddly Grodd I'd watch Grape Ape.

Apes, in general, need a comeback. I don't recall Chuck Dixon ever working on the Flash though. That makes sense. Dixon wrote Grodd, not Flash (maybe he's written Flash, too, but I just meant his Grodd).
