I was thinking of trying Green Arrow, Aquaman and Green Lantern. The dealer had all those in stock. I might have picked those up and become a regular reader. (I might still get them if I see them at Barnes and Noble in a few weeks. But the dealer won't see the $$$ from me at $6 each.) The same thing happened with the New 52. I like Aquaman, but the dealer was charging $8 for #1 almost immediately. I saw New 52 Flash #1 for $16 days after it came out. I can't remember how high Detective #1 was, but it was ridiculous. I got it from eBay for $1 over cover price a few weeks after it came out. And I got most of my New 52 #1's from Barnes and Noble a few weeks after they were at the comic book shop. (And I never got Aquaman during the New 52.) New52 Aquaman by Geoff Johns may be the best era of Aquaman of all time. Hopefully, you'll be able to get to B&N before the speculators. Also, be advised that DC has been charging an extra dollar for its newsstand versions for a while. So, if you see the Rebirth issues priced at $3.99, don't be surprised.

Well M, that's unfortunately how "capitialism" works in modern America, exploiting the consumer while the iron is still good and hot This is why I shed no tear for the death of the comic book store. I realize that there are good shop owners out there, and I wish them no ill and applaud them for being good people, but this sort of crap is why I long ago stopped going to shops and now only buy at online discount sites and digital services. For me personally, people like this are simply in the way of progress. I MIGHT be tempted to try a few new DC and Marvel titles if they didn't have to charge print prices for digital books. It's all because of the retailers. I'm fine waiting six months on Marvel Unlimited. Save some of that hatred for the clientele! Like me for instance. If Time Warner and Disney could get the fans to switch over to digital only, lower the digital price and get rid of the middlemen (Diamond and the comic shops), they'd do it in a cold second. Those of us that refuse to make way for "progress" and continue to buy the same old format are holding them back.

IF all comic shops went away today, you could still get your physical books through online services and play a lot less doing so. It's basically the retailers complaining that has kept the prices ridiculous. Collecting is fine when it's joined to the hip with a love of the stories, but I long ago so the evils of speculators and mindless collectors and turned my back on on it. Even before I stopped buying single issues, I stopped bagging and boarding and put all my comics, naked, into my longboxes. Granted, if I had some really expensive issues I'd keep them protected.

You're buying physical copies instead of digital is not stopping them from lowering digital prices, retailers threatening to boycott and stop buying physical products if they lower digital prices to be in line with other digital versions of print products are. Retailers acting as if they have a special right to sell the books exclusively without competition and whining when they don't get their way is the issue here (lack of competition is what allows them to sell those new Rebirth issues at twice cover the week of release don't you know). Amazon has already started offering kindle editions at lower than print prices on a lot of trades and semi-new releases for comics, so I'd expect the see the whole industry shift that way at some point in the nearish future (with DC being the probable lone hold out because they seem to be the one most fixated on print sale market share as a measure for their success. -M

Was just reading through the Barry vs Zoom fight in Flash 47 and came across this panel Now I'm starting to wonder if the blue/white lightning on Wally's new duds is permanent or just an aspect of his "speeding"?

Wally does appear for a few pages in Flash: Rebirth, but he's still in his Kid Flash outfit. He'll use the Speed Force to create his new costume in Titans: Rebirth #1 where his story continues.

Anybody else read Detective? I'm not sure I like the weird Bat themed militia the Batman Family is set to square off against but I loved Clayface's characterization...he broke out of Arkham just so he could watch one of his old movies and told Batman he wouldn't put up a fight if only he could just sit and watch the film. I don't know how he'll work as a hero but I'm interested to watch it play out.

Hell, he's already essentially the perfect spy for gathering intel.

I'm going to check out Rebirth in a few days from now. I have friends that will assist me in this process and I've might find some books that I might be interested in.
I will let you all know a week or two. Stay Tuned.

I browsed through Rebirth #1 and wasn't compelled to buy it. I just really dislike artistic styles like that of Ethan Van Sciver. His stuff is so stiff and lifeless to me. I'd much have preferred the whole thing be done my Ivan Reis, who's style I love. I also really like Paul Pelletier. Both of those guys are like John Byrne, Alan Davis and Neal Adams all chipped in their DNA to create a kid.

Just got around to reading Wonder Woman #1. Meh. Not generated enough interest to bring me back for more.

Green Lanterns #1 was interesting. They decided to introduce something new solely for Baz at the moment called "Emerald Sight" which allows him to have premonitions. Anyone who's familiar with Cosmic Marvel will notice the similarities between it and "Cosmic Awareness"
Titans Rebirth got me interested enough to try and give the silver age itteration a shot, so that's something

I guess they had to go through all this fol-de-rol to relaunch the un-retcon of their relaunched retcon, but it just left a pretty poor comic behind. Pass. So, 3 rebirth comics done, none of them raised more than a "meh" from me.

There's something that occurred to me this morning. Throughout Rebirth Wally's been saying that someone has stolen 10 Years from the DCU when Barry went through the Flashpoint. However, since the start of the New52 we've had two five Year Jumps the First was between the formation of the Justice League and the rest of the "Current" events...the next was a year later with the Zero issues where everyone jumps another five years. Now at the time I always thought these five year jumps were "The characters lived through five years of adventures but we didn't get to experience them through the books" (that's a lot of stories to skip over) Now i'm not so sure. Perhaps it's now more a matter of them saying The characters weren't aware that there were Five year jumps. they just had the years pulled out from under them. (which is why Barry was still in his twenties in the recent issues of Flash (The Thawne storyline) instead of being his proper age comparative to Wally. (Barry should be in his 30's Wally in his Twenties and NuWally in his tween/teens)
