I regret that I didn't try to get more of them and beg my parents for more allowance... Tell me about it. I had $200 bucks from my paper route back in 1980 ready to drop on Amazing Fantasy #15. My parents absolutely forbade it (I was 12). They made me open a savings account instead, bless their hearts. They couldn't have known. There's also no guarantee that I wouldn't have damaged/destroyed/lost that book. C'est la vie.

Supernatural Thrillers - #1 - 5 I forgot about Supernatural Thrillers. I have most of the early "literary adaptation" ones, at least the ones I am interested in, but I still need 3-4 of the later Living Mummy issues. I'm definitely going to get #5 first chance I get (1st Living Mummy), and I'll get the others after other series get completed and as funds allow.

Well to finish off some 70s Marvel series, I need some of the big first appearance issues.
Marvel Spotlight 2 (Werewolf by Night) Marvel Spotlight 5 (Ghost Rider) Marvel Spotlight 28 (Moon Knight early apperance) Marvel Spotlight 32 (Spider-Woman) Nova 1 (used to be so, so common and so, so cheap) 2001 8 (weird early Thanos backup story) Devil Dinosaur 7 (just don't have this one)
I'd love to have a ton of money to get a bunch of Marvel 70s magazines, but that won't happen any time soon.

I thought 2001 8 was first Machine Man (or Mr. MAchine as he is called in the issue), and Logans Run 6 is the weird random Thanos back up. I have both and I know Logan's has a Thanos back up (reprinted in the Avengers vs. Thanos trade too), and I don't remember one in 2001. -M

I'm currently trying to (slowly) buy up every comic book ever to contain a Doug Moench story.
Expect a new review thread to begin within the month...

It's weird to see prices have gone up so much. I bought the majority of my collection ten years ago, when I realized even Silver Age Marvel was affordable, and I could fulfill a childhood dream. I couldn't get the super-expensive stuff, of course, so all the earliest stuff I have as Essentials. I thought comics were dying and stuff, and back issues would never be worth anything again. So glad I got my collection when I did, because a lot of the stuff have gone up like crazy. I got New Mutants 98 for like less than 20 bucks, and look at it now! I didn't get everything I wanted, but I'm pretty happy with my collection. Never got to finish my Starlin's Captain Marvel run, and I'm missing the really expensive stuff, like Amazing Spider-Man issues 121, 122 and 129. Damn speculators!

Old comic book series that I grew up back then where Id buy a few issues when I was younger.
original Alpha Flight- grew up with this when I was a little kid in the early 1980s. Im still buying old back issues here and there to fill in alot of gaps but there are some old issues that I really dont need to buy
original Power Pack - last year i finally got to get back issues of # 1 through 5 and 7 up to 10. Along with issues 20 to 24. issues 23 and 24 still creep me out because of the bad guy lizard aliens.
Nightstalkers - series is pretty easy to find at the comic shop
X Men 2099, X-Man, old X -Men Unlimited issues. I think Im the only one who buys them at the comic shop whenever I do go to the comic book shop once in awhile.
Heck I think Im the only who digs through the boxes of old comics from 1990s Batman stuff to Alf, Sueprman 1980s and early 1990s, Incredible Hulk and old Fantastic Four stuff.

As my series purchases all tend to be cost effective (meaning I am an old tightwad) spending up to $5 for a back issue means there are some holes in my collections. I am missing 2 issues of Shogun Warriors and around 7 issues of ROM because asking prices are too high. Machine Man I have his series run but need to get the 2001 issues but again much too high a price from most sellers.
In this day and age of great reprints I find that many of the series I had collected and traded off or sold I can get in Trades or Omni's for a much better price and know they will last longer than the actual single floppies. So now a days it is the occasional single issue or two found cheaply for me...

Spectre (Ostrander series, maybe 20 or so) I'm now just one issue away from completing this series - the elusive #54. One of the most striking things about this series is the "wide screen" destruction the Spectre causes in his pursuit of justice - maybe once I have a complete collection I'll start a thread sharing the mayhem - call it "Spectre destroys the 1990's" maybe?
