Apparently I'm not a comic book nerd. ...If you name yourself after a Golden Age back up feature from Action Comics, you're an esteemed member of CBN If you know "Slam Bradley" appeared in Detective Comics, not Action, and you post a correction on this thread... Cei-U! I own my nerditude!

...if you believe every specific cover or panel you want to reference in a discussion should be easily findable on the internet.
Specifically: Matt Groening, Life in Hell: "I collect comic books, but I'm not one of those geeks who collects comic books."

... If you remember when a certain event in your life happened by asking yourself what comic you were reading at the time. (I drive my wife nuts with that!!! )

...you know that "I am Groot!" is not the only thing Groot is capable of saying, and that until recently he spoke quite normally. I only recently found this out and it had me wondering, was their ever an explanation given? In my head I've decided it has to do with the many times he's been regrown from a twig, but I'd be interested to know if something was ever said.

That's at least a plausible explanation, but as far as I know it was never explained. Groot spoke normally up to the start of Annihilation : Conquest (in the Star-Lord miniseries), and later he would say "I am Groot" like someone else would say "Bah! I am Doom" before he started not saying anything else. His signature phrase looks like something that started out as a joke and was made canonical, like "xenomorphs".

My son's middle name is Tiberious, so named in the honor of a great man and hero.
Yet he insists on telling people if they ask, that it's after the Roman emperor.
I have failed him somewhere down the line.....

(I drive my wife nuts with that!!! ) I bought Captain America Annual(Special)#2, Jan 1972 at a 7-11 to have something to read in the car when I had to go to an out of town funeral with my parents. RIP in Grandma.

If you go to a comic book convention and more than half the dealers know you on a first name basis, you might be a comic book nerd. Ha! You'd be amazed how many dealers remember you if you're looking for beat-to-crap copies of early '60s Charlton Monster comic. One guy remembered he sold me a Reptilicus # 2 5 years later.

... If you remember when a certain event in your life happened by asking yourself what comic you were reading at the time. (I drive my wife nuts with that!!! ) That's exactly how I remember childhood events (birthdays, holidays, vacations, and so on), in relation to what comic I bought or was reading at the time. My siblings are nonplussed when I say things like "Oh I know that was year XXXX because I bought Fantastic Four issue xxx"; they don't recall me being so into comics. But I was.

I qualify on many of these, but not all. I think my thousands of comic books would still be the deciding factor...

When someone you know enters the room you simply exclaim "YOU!" Google image search is being stingy with me, but Lex Luthor has a great moment in Peter Davids Supergirl run. He shows up, she yells "You!", and he's like (very loosely paraphrasing here) "Why do people always yell that whenever I show up? What am I supposed to respond? The only reasonable answer would seem to be "Me.", but that's absurd." Then he shows up at the end of the book and a supporting character yells "You!", to which he responds "*sigh* Me."

...If you get the meme about Lex Luthor having forty cakes. That's as many as four tens! And that's terrible. And although I really hated JMS' Grounded story line, I loved that they referenced the meme:
