Two more comic series get Hollywood/TV options... I have the Night Mary trade but never read it. I looooove Five Ghosts, so kind of excited for that. Speculators get going and start snapping up issues, it's on. The first part of this article the Ellis/Hurd teaming was Warren Ellis working with Walking Dead Exec Prducer Gale Anne Hurd on a project for TV. Ellis hinted he had something big being announced today in his last e-mail newsletter. -M edit to add link: her's more on those deals

The minor flaws with the book are almost all on the back cover. Having said that, I've been reading a lot about this on the CGC forums, where as you might expect, it's a major topic. And according to people who know, there is one known copy that is believed to be better than even this one. However, it hasn't been graded by CGC and is currently in the hands of a private collector who is apparently not ready to sell it just yet. So this is the highest graded copy and the nicest one offered publicly for sale, but supposedly not actually the top copy. Which according to people who have seen it, is apparently a 9.2 with very nice page quality, and was part of the Mile High/Edgar Church pedigree.

Here's something I know shaxper will be interested in - and probably most of us as well, actually, if not necessarily for the same reason: www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=54279Kurt Busiek is doing a new creator owned "science fiction/fantasy epic" for Image that he calls "kinda like [Kamandi] but with magic." I'll be putting this on my pull list as soon as I hit the comic shop tomorrow.

A new Busiek book always catches my eye. There were a few interesting looking books coming out of the Image Expo at SDCC. I know Shax likes the team of Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman who did some of the BOOM! Apes books; they have a new sci-fi adventure series coming out from Image announced at the Expo...Invisible Kingdom Preview
Sean Murphy (who did Punk Rock Jesus and the art for Scott Snyder's The Wake is doing a new Image book with Rick Remender called Tokyo Ghost-I really like Murphy's art, but Remender is very hit and miss with me so I am skeptical on that one. Jeff Lemire (whose creator owned stuff I dig but whose mainstream super-hero stuff leaves me cold) is done with his DC exclusive contract and doing a new sci-fi series with Dustin Nguyen called Descenders that looks pretty interesting as well. -M

More Dynamite news...the first official Dynamite John Carter book is coming and Ron Marz is attached as writer. Marz has been doing adaptations of Burroughs stuff in web comic form for the Burroughs estate and was tapped by Dynamite to write their new John Carter Warlord of Mars series, the first time they have used the trademarked John Carter in a title. -M I don't know Marz at all, but however good he is, a lot will depend on the artwork for me on a project like this, even more than is usual for comics in general.

John Boyega Tweets Black Panther Hint: This and Doctor Strange are the Black Panther possibly my top two favourite comics characters, as far as my childhood favourites go, but for that very reason, I'm probably going to find it hard to enjoy a screen version, especially considering I don't even like the current comics versions much, from what I've seen. I looked up Boyega - haven't seen him in anything yet - does he have the physical presence to play the Panther? Of course he could be doing a supporting character or something.

While it may be true or not, the fact that he was looking for the comics is clearly MEANT to get people talking... if he really wanted the comics and wanted it kept quiet, he could have had marvel send them, or bought them online, or ordered them online, or sent someone to get them...reporting it like it was a 'scoop' is kinda silly.
