Here's one for Shax when he gets back...IDW and BOOM! are teaming for a Star Trek/Planet of the Apes x-over. I guess he'll have to resurrect that PotA review thread that "was complete" but own't be when this hits the shops. CBR article-M

I know we have a few Peter Bagge fans hereabouts too, it seems Bagge will be contributing to an all new Garbage Pail Kids anthology comic from IDW and produced a promo image that debuted at SDCC... Bleeding Cool article</a> -M

I just got an email from Robin Kirby about his forthcoming book on the history of Marvel UK. There's no date yet, but I mention it so it's on the radar. This will be the definitive work, and worth reading even if you've no interest in Marvel UK, simply because so many big American names were involved. Anyhow, if interested you can follow the books's progress on Robin's blog here: a-distant-beacon.blogspot.co.uk/This isn't the final cover, just a mock up:

The Eisner Awards are being given out right now. This guy is live tweeting the winners: twitter.com/comicmixI've read seven of the winners. But when I say I've read The Spirit, I do not mean I own a copy of the Artists Edition. This may be the first Eisner Awards where I've read more than one or two winners. Several others are on my list of things to check out, but I'd say less so than previous years.

The first image of Wonder Woman from the Superman vs. Batman movie has been released. Better than I was expecting. Though Snyder is always good with visuals. It's the storytelling that stinks in his movies. Anyway:

Cape and all! I wish he were bigger, if only because I am hoping for a bigger role in the film than we are probably going to get. But that's him.

More Dynamite news...the first official Dynamite John Carter book is coming and Ron Marz is attached as writer. Marz has been doing adaptations of Burroughs stuff in web comic form for the Burroughs estate and was tapped by Dynamite to write their new John Carter Warlord of Mars series, the first time they have used the trademarked John Carter in a title. -M I don't know Marz at all, but however good he is, a lot will depend on the artwork for me on a project like this, even more than is usual for comics in general. Marz is very well known for good fantasy. I think Carter is probably in pretty good hands. Not sure who's doing the art.

Here's something I know shaxper will be interested in - and probably most of us as well, actually, if not necessarily for the same reason: www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=54279Kurt Busiek is doing a new creator owned "science fiction/fantasy epic" for Image that he calls "kinda like [Kamandi] but with magic." I'll be putting this on my pull list as soon as I hit the comic shop tomorrow. I am def getting this and the Star Trek / Planet of the Apes.
