Bette Kane and Barbara GordonBette KaneTo understand her, she was the sidekick of Batwoman in the Golden Age of Comics and having said that her codename is Bat Girl and I want to emphasize the space between the small "t" and the big "G" of her code name and that's make her an unique character of her own rights and having said that - I felt that she was out of place in the Teen Titans of having her being set in the Bronze Age of Comics To me, they kind of place her in that group to give her additional exposure but to me, I was thinking about it the other day and I felt they retcon her in this group (I may not be using the right word here) but her presence in this group picture above you showing Wonder Girl, Robin, and Bat Girl front and center here kind of threw me a curve ball and I did enjoy her part in the Teen Titans and having said that - she should had stayed in the Golden Age of Comics as a sidekick of Batwoman. Barbara GordonFor me, she is the original Batgirl and always has been and one of the most celebrated one indeed and I did not spend a whole lot of time when she was Oracle and I never, ever embrace her in that role and I felt that DC Comics did her a disservice when she was brutally attacked by the Joker and I was very sadden when they did this and never, ever forgave DC Comics for doing this at all. Going back to her Oracle persona ... I felt weird about it and I know that she supposed to be the information gatherer for the various DC Comics Heroes and Heroines that needed her for information and all but to me this bothers me a lot and that's why I felt that they should had revived her back to Batgirl and leave her alone. I have mixed feelings about this character the way she was handled by and it's also bothers me that she was a US Congresswoman at a young age of 25 when I read that here in this forum. I was chuckling along when I was picking up a comic book and she ended up hiring Dick (Robin) Grayson as his aide. She is a fascinating character and played many roles in her comic book days and one role that made her famous - Batgirl!

Helena BertinelliHer costume reminded me of both Micheal Keaton and Val Kilmer when they played Batman. I hardly knew her as Batgirl and having said that I rarely picked up a comic book that showcased her in this role because I was too busy working at the time when her character as Batgirl was relevant for a lot of you members here in Classic Comics Forum. Sorry Everyone, I have no history of her as Batgirl. I find this surprisingly true everyone! I do when she became the Huntress ... This is my favorite costume of her as the HuntressShe was the Huntress, first and foremost. And, while we are in the subject of Batgirl ... this is all I can share because of her character as the Huntress as being a daughter of Bruce (Batman) Wayne and Selina (Catwoman) Kyle ... I can't share anymore than that. I just loved this cover!

Cassandra Cain and Stephanie BrownNote to All: These two characters are so distant to me and I hardly knew them at all except Stephanie as the Spoiler and I did not even attempt to relate to her as Batgirl. I know there were a character by the name of Black Bat but these two were created in the early to mid 2000's and I didn't do a whole lot of reading back then. I'm not going to give you much and I try my best to accommodate you in my understanding of both Cassandra and Stephanie. Cassandra Cain as BatgirlAs Black BatTo be honest with all of you here - I don't know anything about her role as Batgirl and Black Bat and having said that my knowledge of Batgirl is problematic because I felt that DC Comics did a tremendous disservice of recreating her in all these forms and that why I did not care for the Bat Family after 1990 because it's became a mess of it's own rights. Stephanie Brown as BatgirlAs SpolierI only saw two issues of Stephanie Brown as Batgirl and I can't come to a conclusion of how she got panned out as Batgirl and I didn't even care for her costume either and that alone made a big difference of ignoring her altogether. To me, she is a D List Character that I didn't care for at all. Her costume alone was a big turn off at the time that I read her in 2005 picking up back issues of her as Batgirl. Later on, the relaunch her in 2009 that I believe and this time she was the Spoiler and it's baffled me when they reinvented her and having said that she was better known than Cassandra as Black Bat. Spoiler was hit among the younger generation in my area in certain degree and I wasn't really in-tune of her colorful outfit and I was talking to my dear friend today that Stephanie Brown was Batgirl from 2009 to 2011 and what really adds the confusion back then that my Local Comic Store was selling at the same time issues/comic books that Stephanie Brown as Batgirl and the Spoiler at the same time and that alone cause Stephanie to have her downfall and people that I know at store started to ignore her altogether.

My daughter liked Stephanie's Batgirl series. She also like Babs as Batgirl & as Oracle. She liked Helena Wayne as Huntress. The rest of them she didn't care for.

Batgirl Yvonne CraigShaxper had a thread devoted to Batgirl CCF Link - Batgirl Unaired PlotI wrote a piece concerning her clout of designing her mask. When, I think of Batgirl - Yvonne Craig will be the first person that I can think of and Barbara Gordon in the Comic Books in the sixties 2nd and the all the rest a distant 3rd. Craig did only 26 episodes and most of them in my opinion weren't as good as the episodes in the 1st and 2nd seasons of Batman. In my own mind, there are three shows that I considered the best of Yvonne Craig as Batgirl. Number 1 - The Wail of the Siren It was basically Batgirl and Robin working together and she was the central character of this show of which she was in charge of the situation and the problem is Batman is not available and only one other person can help her is Robin. I find this show very good and the way she exercised her will and all and trying to make amends and all is heroic. I liked the moment of which she called Batman on the Red Phone in Commissioner Gordon office is excellent. Number 2 - Surf Up! Joker Under! This show was expressively designed to bring in more young viewers in and they wanted to have it a mod factor of which they trying to capture the Beach Blanket Bingo rage back then and capture some of the appeal (sex) of Yvonne Craig has at the moment. It was a fun show for her to do and when I did had a chance to talk to her - she said it this show is one of her favorites. I like the beach scenes and the sunglasses that both Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara wore. Number 3 - Enter Batgirl, Exit Penquin It was the 1st show of the 3rd Season of Batman and it was a very inexpensive way of doing it and basically get the viewers a peek of what Yvonne Craig in the next 25 shows that finalized Adam West's run as Batman. I find this show quite good and this started a relationship of Barbara Gordon and Alfred unique relationship of which Alfred volunteered to take place of the Minister of which Penquin hatch a plan to marry Barbara Gordon so that he can have immunity from all of his criminal misgivings and that's what his plan involved. Those were the best three shows that I can think of and I find her to be very fascinating and she developed a lot of Ballet in this show and I liked the way she used her legs to emphasis her uniqueness and flair. This is a pretty cool video showing the Best and Worst of Batgirl in Season 3 of Batman.

Dina Meyer - Birds of Prey Television Series 2002-03Alicia Silverstone - Batman & Robin Movie 1997Dina MeyerShe was the leader of this show and most importantly a mentor to Huntress and a daughter (metahuman) to the original Black (Lori Loughlin) and having said that ... I felt that she more like Oracle than Batgirl. I haven't watch her show in 10 years and I still have the original DVD's and I was felt that this show was forgotten and did not leave me a lasting impression either. Her costume as Batgirl was horrible beyond description and I did not seem to care for it. I like her initially as Oracle but I felt that she was too pretty to be Batgirl and that's why I feel differently about her. I just wanted to share that. Right now, I really have no desires to re-watch this show and I just wanted to say that. Alicia SilverstoneI just find her performance a joke and I consider George Clooney Movie of Batman and Robin one of my all time least favorite movie despite Arnold's appearance as Mr. Freeze and Uma Thuman as Poison Ivy. Hated her costume and she a blonde a big fat no no.The Bane in this movie is a Joke.

Batgirl New52 - Gail Simone and Company - DC Rebirth Batgirl headed by Larson and CompanyBatgirl New52Gail Simone and her cohorts did a terrific job updating Barbara Gordon and it's one of my few purchases from that series and I wasn't a big fan of DC COMICS NEW 52 at all. But, I have all the books that she written and it's was surprisingly good story-wise and the art was better than average, but not exceptional. I like the direction that Gail took and gave new life to Barbara Gordon. It's reestablished her from a continuity standpoint and I wished that she did this character again. She made it more adventurous, thrilling, and more exciting than ever and gave her (Barbara) a re-new purpose of life that gave Batgirl meaning and direction. Every once in a while I take all of her books and read them in one lazy (rainy) afternoon and enjoy the ride once more. It's one of the very few New52 titles that I liked. Batgirl ReBirth Is this series any good and I have no clue what this is all about and I'm asking anyone here can stay that I should bother with it or ignore it. Please advise me.

Dina Meyer - Birds of Prey Television Series 2002-03Dina MeyerI like her initially as Oracle but I felt that she was too pretty to be Batgirl and that's why I feel differently about her. What an odd complaint. When hasn't Barbara been portrayed as pretty? In comics or out? It's not like Yvonne Craig is hard on the eyes.

I wasn't thinking at first and I'm truly sorry that I said this earlier and I should had written that in the first place. I felt that Dina Meyer was an excellent Oracle and for her to be Batgirl in flashback moments was too bizarre to be Batgirl because I felt that her costume was ill-designed in the first place - she is a very pretty actress and I like her a lot when she had her moments in NCIS as Holly Snow and both Yvonne Craig and Dina Meyer are very good in the roles they played - Craig as Batgirl and Meyer as Oracle. Both of them are very attractive in their own rights and I have no favorites here and I'm taking back what I said here earlier. I felt Dina Meyer was better suited as Oracle and somewhat miscast as Batgirl. By the way, I did not care for her costume at all and my major complaints is her gloves and boots - bad design in my own opinion. Sorry, hope I corrected myself here and I'm truly sorry that I've mislead you and anyone else here of my previous comments.

Pertains to dupersuper's previous postMy Official Position on Dina Meyer and Yvonne Craig - Television BatgirlsLet's me clarify things up, in my knowledge of these two actresses - Dina Meyer was Oracle 1st, Batgirl 2nd - I know that she was Barbara Gordon in this series and having watched the show I felt that they did a tremendous disservice to her making her play Batgirl of which I felt it was ill-advised to have flashback shows showcasing her being gunned down by the Joker and leaving her to die like that and having the tremendous willpower to live again and fight again as Oracle. A mentor to Ashley Scott's Huntress role and Rachel Skarsten role as Dinah Lance the daughter of the original Black Canary being played by Lori Loughlin. Both Dina and Yvonne are lovely and pretty actresses on their own rights and I don't favor anyone of them and having said that I felt that Dina Meyer was ill-fitted (costume wise) to play Batgirl and the flashback show was poorly made in my opinion and that bothers me a lot. Yvonne's costume is much more stylish than Dina's and I did not care for the gloves and the boots of her costume because I find them too distracting for my own taste and I thought the opera-like gloves that Dina wore is not my cup of tea for a crime-fighting outfit alone. I just wanted to clear things up and not leave anything hanging by the thread here and one more thing that I did not like about the Birds of Prey Television Show - is their handling of Rachel Skarsten and too much emphasis on Ashley Scott and that's was downfall of the show and the relationship of Ashley Scott (Huntress) and Detective Jesse Reese (Shemar Moore) of Criminal Minds fame was a bit too far out when he felt that she is disrespecting the law and I felt the these two were at war each other and made it uneasy alliance that bothers me a lot. This is my opinion at the time the show started and still is and that's why I haven't watch this show since 2005. I have the DVD's and they are sitting around and haven't been touched ever since because I have a lot of issues with this show - I loved it at first and having watching it a 2nd, 3rd times - I started to ask questions about it and started not liking it altogether. That's all I have to say about Dina Meyer's show - The Birds of Prey.

I'm replying without quoting as my iPad is being obstinate... Gail Simone's Birds of Prey was a book that was so much fun to read, (albeit not consistently) great characterization, smart humor, I laughed a TON. I never got into New 52 at all but Gail Simone + Batgirl has to be just frikkin' gold!
