I most definitely had a crush on the Yvonne Craig Batgirl as a lad. To me, there are two (comic book) Batgirls - Barbara Gordon and Bette Kane.

I always thought the Juggernaut was a cool villain, and a good X-Men Adversary...until they made him a good guy. Ugh.

I understand your thoughts and I thought they were two totally different characters and I understand where you are coming from and all. One in the tail end of the Golden Age of Comics and the other one in the Silver Age of Comics.

I liked the original Batwoman/Bat-Girl dynamic. It was the female version of Batman/Robin. There has been female sidekicks but never any all female team made up of mentor/protégé to my knowledge.
However Barbara Gordon is the Batgirl I grew up reading & Yvonne Craig was awesome. And I too had a crush on her. I did think Dina Meyer was good as Oracle but I agree her Batgirl costume was "off".
When Stephanie Brown was introduced I thought it would be cool to have Barbara as the new Batwoman with Stephanie as the new Batgirl but DC went in a different direction. Mostly because my daughter liked Stephanie in Tim Drake's title. And it would be a way to "bridge" my generation of hero with her generation...

Good call here and I would loved to see this!

I love Cassandra Cain as Batgirl, and really liked Babs as Oracle.

I love Cassandra Cain as Batgirl, and really liked Babs as Oracle. Dina Meyer was close as you can get as Oracle. I wished the show (Birds of Prey) was a little better and all.

#26 Marvel Girl / Jean Grey - Marvel Comics My favorite Redhead of all Comicdom To me, she is the main reason why I like the early days of the X-Men and being the only young woman on the squad made her a very special project to Professor X and I will be sharing a lot over the course of seven some odd days sharing everything that I know of Jean Grey. I was very fascinated by her character of lately and one of the most pioneer ladies in Marvel Comics. I have a wide array of subjects to talk about and I consider her very iconic and I also be sharing a staggering array of pictures that I downloaded from the Internet to share with you on the behalf of Marvel Girl. It's all starts tomorrow and I wanted to get an introduction out beforehand and the picture of her wearing that mod green dress is my favorite costume of Marvel Girl ... her signature Red Hair and Green Mod Dress with a touch of yellow makes it extra special groovy. She's my favorite Redhead and sorry to all Mary Jane, Maxima, Pepper Potts, and others from Marvel and DC Comics this lady is top dog in the world of Redheads ... I will be changing my AVATAR and to reflect her and that's will be up for seven days or so.

Origin of Jean Grey
Pretty good generalization of her history and origin here.

Jean Grey - First ThoughtsMy first thought of Jean Grey is her fiery red hair that so gorgeous and so thick it's really stand out in the crowd and her being a supermodel later on makes it even more defined and all. I just wanted to share that it is her calling card a symbol of her beauty and femininity. There are worthy candidates - Mary Jane Watson, Pepper Potts, Maxima and Mera from DC Comics, and countless others that have great red hair and all but, Jean to me was the first one to exploit it and does it quite well. I would had place Mera as my favorite redhead but I was introduced to her later on and I was marveled how gorgeous Jean really is. Mera my 2nd Choice I always have a fascination of redheads - Rita Hayworth, Ann Margret, Lucille Ball, Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Isla Fisher, Rebecca Holden, Christina Hendricks, Maureen O'Hara, Piper Laurie, Gates McFadden, and others that captivates my fancies and they are all beauties. Note: I know Rita Hayworth wasn't a natural redhead and she went from Brunette to Redhead by dyeing her hair and that's alone made her a Superstar. If I were make a choice for Jean Grey it would be Christina Hendricks of Mad Men fame! Christina would be perfect for Jean Grey! ... Did I make the right choice? More coming tomorrow ... I have lots to share about Jean Grey!

Jean Grey / Marvel Girl / Phoenix in the MoviesFamke Janssen & Sophie TurnerFamke JanssenSophie TurnerTo be honest with all of you here - I did not care for anyone of them and I'm sorely disappointed in the darkness / evilness of the Phoenix character of which they were too brutal for my own taste. I did not care for the costume, the hair of Janssen was horrible beyond belief and Turner wasn't the right person for the role. I have my own reservations about this character and the Sophia Turner version had great special effects and the Famke Jannsen version have a mixed variety of emotions that I had a hard time accepting it and it's was very intense the love affairs of Cyborg and Wolverine was too much for me to comprehend. The scenes that I provided for all to see that I consider the best scenes in the movies that I have seen. I haven't really form an opinion on Sophia Turner and I felt that she did an okay job with this series of persona of Jean Grey / Marvel Girl / Phoenix. For all the X-Men movies - I hated Marvel Comics to focus on the Phoenix Persona than the Jean Grey / Marvel Girl Persona and that alone made this moviegoer really sad and all that. They made Jean Grey dark, moody, and downright destructive and without a human element that made Jean Grey a winner in my book. I'm truly sorry to everyone that reads this post by me and having said that I've don't have a favorite here and that's why I did not care for neither actresses that played the part of Jean Grey / Marvel Girl / Phoenix because of the directions of Marvel Films took of this iconic character that I've grew up reading. Too much time on the Phoenix persona killed it.

By the time I "met" Jean, she was a non Phoenix powered force to be reckoned with. A telepath of the highest order, (are MU telepathy ranked anywhere?) coupled of course with her impressive telekinesis. After re-reading the original stories thru dark Phoenix and then post resurrection. Her progression as acharacter was really something to see. Watching her break Sabretooths leg (as promised) showed me a use of that power that I had never thought of, she can literally crush you...
I would've loved to see her and Maddie (I have a soft spot for her, loved the team dynamic with her around in San Fran, Dallas and the outback) meet in a non inferno setting, but I believe the two books that housed them never actually met on page until Inferno? What a mini that would've been! Anyway, original heroic death becoming meaningless by shitty editorial fiat notwithstanding, she's a favorite of mine as well.

Juggernaut I never really thought about the great redheads in comics. Maybe comic book artists like red heads since there a lot of them. And most of my favorite female characters (Mera, MJ, Barbara Gordon, Jean Grey) have red hair. I guess I like in real life too since I married a red head!
