Dear Members and GuestsThis countdown will have very little references to Wikipedia and it's will be very personal and I'll try my best to explain why this character has the most influence in my life and how this character shape me. This is a very different countdown of the one that I did in the past and believe me I might spend a whole week discussing one particular character and I believe it will take me a year to complete this countdown. You heard me a year or more. I have lots to share of how I came to this conclusion and the character itself has great impact on my life and why certain characters / groups from all walks of life from animated cartoons, individual characters like Captain (Shazam) Marvel, Batman and Robin, Green Hornet and Kato, and some of the characters in my previous countdown like Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, and Underdog. I spent a good portion of the past month compiling this list of 50 and it's got to be my most difficult list ever. I will be discussing cartoons, characters that been dated in the 30's and with my good understanding of Golden and Silver Age of Comics I will try my best to go over the general history of each of these characters that you will enjoy reading about. I will steer away with Wikipedia and go straight to the heart of each of these characters / groups and I will try my best to explain why that character deserved to be ranked at that particular place in this countdown. Because of this Countdown - I'm just going to be focusing on this and steer away from other threads that I like and just attack this thread with gusto. You all have to very patience with me because it's make take me a year (or more) to reveal #1 and I will try to write up a decent and comprehensive review of each of these characters / groups that I select in this COUNTDOWN of all AGES to enjoy. Let's begin with #50

#50 Lone Ranger and TontoClayton Moore as the Lone Ranger with Silver as his trusted Steed. Jay Silverheels as Tonto with Scout as his trusted Steed. This show ran from 1949 to 1957 and I wasn't even born yet when this show was on television but in the mid-60's it was a very popular show for syndication and me and my three older brothers often watch this show together on a Saturday Afternoon from 4:30 to 5:00 PM on one of our local channels that I recall doing with them and these two characters has a lot of meaning to my life and how they shape me. I just loved this show and I have found memories watching it. I met Clayton Moore once back in the early 70's and I regretted not getting his autograph then because I was paying close attention of how he and Jay Silverheels made this show special and I had goosebumps listening to him. He is so good with his fans and loves sharing about his show and has a large following of true believers that feels that he should not be without that mask of his. I just don't want to dwell on the legal consequences of him wearing the mask when he meets his fans but the principle of him without it wouldn't be fair to Clayton Moore - The Real Lone Ranger. In a day or two - I will share some of my favorite TV Shows when it's came on Television back in 1949 and I always prefer the Black and White Episodes rather the Colors Ones. I need more time to find 2-3 shows on You Tube Land to share on this thread and I will do my best to showcase them so that I can share why I like it so much. So, at Number 50 it's the Lone Ranger and Tonto starring Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels as Tonto. Hi Ho Silver Away

Have you read the Lone Ranger comics from Dynamite, Mecha ? I think you'd like em. I'm a big Dynamite Comics Fan and I just looking at a new book to follow and I liked the way they presented him in this book and having said that I haven't made my own opinion of it; and a month ago I started reading Lone Ranger and it's a good all around book and I enjoyed it very much. Right Now, DC Comics and Marvel Comics doesn't impressed me and now Dynamite is my new King because they have a better track record than DC and Marvel right now.

Lone Ranger gets his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Located on 6914 Hollywood Blvd - I saw his star on my trip to Los Angeles back in 1992. Here's the You Tube of him getting his star in 1987. Jay Silverheels gets his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Located on 6538 Hollywood Blvd - I haven't seen his star and I hope to see it next year in May. I'm planning on taking a two week trip to Los Angeles in the month of May of 2017.

I'm sure some people here are familiar with the following story but even if you are, you'll understand why I'm posting it here.
Jay Thomas met Clayton Moore back in the 1970's and had this tale to tell. It was an annual tradition on the Letterman show for him to come on and repeat it around Christmas.
As for The Lone Ranger himself, I'll have to echo MechaGodzilla's sentiments and agree that Clayton Moore is The Lone Ranger. Moore played the part with such earnest stoicism that I completely understand how the two became inseparable thereafter and frankly, it was simply a well written enough show that it isn't hard to see why.

The first big comic trade I did was with a fellow classmate in high school for some 8 track tapes I had. There were a bunch of 50's Dell comics with beautiful painted covers, a lot of them were The Lone Ranger's horse Silver. Can't remember exactly what ones I had (before I sold them in college).

Just finished watching the first 3 episodes of the TV show: Enter The Lone Ranger, The Lone Ranger Fights On, The Lone Ranger's Triumph. Tells his origin: the ambush, Tonto finding him & nursing him back to health, finding Silver, establishing a base over the silver mine that his family owns & capturing Butch Cavendish.

Thanks for posting it! I actually met Clayton Moore at a California home improvement store in 1980, when I was 12. This was during the time that Moore was legally prohibited from wearing the mask because of the forgettable "Legend of the Lone Ranger" picture that was in production that year. He made a series of personal appearances to garner support for his legal battle. I was in awe of the man, as was everyone who came out to see him. His generosity, warmth, and boundless enthusiasm were spectacular to behold. He was indeed every inch a living legend.
