Number #17 Doctor Fate - DC Comics CharacterI made another change in my line-up and I was preparing for this character and I was thinking about this character and I felt that he should be ranked NUMBER 15 instead. So, I will start on Doctor Fate tomorrow and decided to give you a sneak preview of him now. He was the co-founder of the Justice Society of America and one of the most colorful character in the early days of DC Comics. One of my favorites and a great costume to boot. He has the Helmet of Fate, the Amulet of Anubis, and the Cloak of Destiny in his hands. With those three artifacts he is Earth's Supreme Sorcerer - The one and only Doctor Fate! Tomorrow, I will share his Origin from More Fun #55 with an exception of the more detailed origin story found in More Comics 67 of which I felt it was more complete. I shared this cover for historical use only. Great Splash Page from LEGENDS ... I will be spending a little more time on this character and I hope to have it done by next Wednesday and/or Thursday at the latest. Cool Animated Gif of Doctor Fate

Doctor Fate's Equipment and Artifacts - Source DC WikiaAmulet of AnubisAccording to my research this artifact the Amulet of Anubis was centered around 2030 BC and it's one of three mystical objects that Doctor Fate use to combat evil. In 1940, near the time give or take when the Justice Society was born - Nabu has transformed Kent Nelson into Doctor Fate and since then he was one of many Fates that bestowed on him. The circular artifact has magical powers that help Kent Nelson to do these things: House of Souls: The amulet has also been shown to house the souls of many who have worn the vestments of Fate. Dimensional Travel: The amulet contains a pocket dimension inside it. Eldritch Blast: Create a mystic beam. Obscure: Render the user undetectable to magical detection. Divine Empowerment: Increase the user's sorcery. Helmet of Fate
The Helmet of Fate is an ancient, and extremely powerful magical object. It was created by the Lord of Order Nabu along with two other mystical items: the Amulet of Anubis and the Cloak of Destiny. The three items combined would grant the wearer the power of Doctor Fate, the primary agent of the Lords of Order. DC WikiaI suggest that you read the link and the Helmet is one of the most important piece of Doctor Fate's Arsenal. Cloak of DestinyThe Cloak of Destiny is one of the vestments of Fate, worn by those who assume the role of Doctor Fate. The Cloak of Destiny may endow its wearer with any or all of the following abilities, based on Kent Nelson's retention of these abilities when he did not possess the Helmet of Fate in the 1940s: Flight Near-Invulnerbility Superhuman strength From Me: With all this in mind, he is one of the most powerful sorcerer and I feel that he's one of unique character ever grace the pages of DC Comics and having said that - I felt that he's never really understood by many comic book readers that I know in the Comic Book Store that I go to. Many of them don't even read the early adventures of the Justice Society of America and I just shocked that they don't even go there. Where I'm from that no one doesn't care about the comics that came out in the 1940's and early days of 1950's of which Doctor Fate and others were the prominent characters of that time. I was so sad that Doctor Fate don't get any respect at all period. He'll always be in my top characters in DC Comics Universe and I wanted to share my favorite picture of Doctor Fate that I discovered by accident yesterday. Number 16 - Barry Allen and Jay Garrick - Flash DC Comics CharactersBarry Allen FlashJay Garrick FlashStarting tomorrow, I will be sharing some thoughts about the two super-speedsters from the world of DC Comics and I was debating yesterday whether I should add Jay Garrick along with Barry Allen and I made my mind up and decided that these two are worthy to be mentioned together and my first pairing on equal grounds. They had great adventures together as partners and as members of both Justice League and Justice Society of the America of which these two worked together in unison and in total partnership. I'm going to spend at least a week on these two characters and perhaps a little bit longer if I had to and I need some time to think about what to do with them and believe me I will come up with a lot of say about these legendary characters from the world of DC Comics. Sorry about not including Wally West in this countdown - the problem with Wally West is that he started out as a sidekick to Barry Allen as Kid (Pictured Below) Flash for most of his early career and his membership to the Teen Titans as well. I loved Wally but he was the 3rd Flash that appeared on scene and in my own judgment he served equally as Kid Flash and Flash himself replacing Barry Allen. Anyway, I hope you understand Wally West Fans in this forum. So tomorrow - the Exciting World of Flashes - Beginning my thoughts on Flash of Two Worlds ... BONUS MY FAVORITE FLASH CARTOON OF ALL TIME "To Catch a Blue Bolt" - Blue Bolt, an alien being with the same Super Speed as The Flash, attacks the Earth.

FLASH OF TWO WORLDS - MY FAVORITE FLASH COMIC BOOK - FLASH 123Special Note: It took me forever to find a picture in the internet showing the Flash playing tennis by himself and it's took me a better part of 3 hours in the past 2 days to find it. I finally found ONE! STORY BEGIN NOW:Iris West hosts a function at the Central City Community Center on behalf of the Picture News Orphan Fund Group. A charity that she supports dearly. Unfortunately, the magician she had hired to entertain the local children fails to arrive. When Barry Allen shows up, he tells Iris and might suggests that he might be able to convince the Flash to stand in for the missing magician. Barry steps outside to don his Flash costume, and then races back in, much to the delight of dozens of young orphans. The Flash spends the next hour entertaining the kids with a bunch of super-speed tricks. First, he astounds them by playing a game of tennis by himself. He serves the ball then races to the other side of the net to receive it just as the ball reaches its own spot of which managed to do that with ease. He then does a variation of the old Indian rope trick. Similar to Batman's Adam West Series in the 3rd Season of Batman when he shared with Batgirl - Yvonne Craig. By vibrating his hands at super-speed, he makes a length of rope appear to rise into the ceiling. He then begins scaling the rope while it continues to hover at super speed. As the children graciously applaud, the Flash suddenly vanish out of thin air, making his girlfriend and everyone else what could have happened to him? TO BE CONTINUED:

It's funny how Marvel has never come close to the Flash's success with Quicksilver, where as Hawkeye has been pretty successful.

DC Comics ... Had Flash I, Flash II, Flash III, Kid Flash, Max Mercury, Jesse Quick, Lady Flash, and couple of others that I could miss. DC Comics rules in the Super-Speedster Department!

I think most publishers had at least one speedster in their arsenal. But I don't remember any achieving the status of DC's Flash in terms of popularity.

FLASH OF TWO WORLDS - FLASH 123 ContinedBarry (The Flash on Earth One) Allen reappears outside the city limits of a strange looking city, with no idea where he is. As he begins investigating the town, though, he realizes that he is no longer in Central City. And, he started to investigate it. He stops at a local newsstand and picks up a copy of the Keystone City Herald. The Flash recognizes the name of Keystone City as the fictional hometown of his childhood comic book hero, Jay Garrick – the original (The Flash on Earth Two) Flash. Barry recalls that comic book writer Gardner Fox created stories of Jay Garrick for Flash Comics based on dreams that he had experienced. One of the rarest Comic Books today ... One of Gardner Fox's Masterpieces! He figured and deduces that he must have vibrated between the dimensional barrier separating parallel (Earth One and Earth Two) worlds and has arrived on a Different Earth similar to the one that he had just left. That's when he discovered Earth Two by mistake and his dreams of the original Flash has becomes a reality that's he became very much aware of. On this Parallel Earth, however, the Golden Age Flash was an actual, living super-hero. Excitedly, Barry looks up Garrick's home address in a phone book and then races off to meet him. To Be Continued either Tomorrow or Saturday! A rare 2 for 1 Review today!

Main Story Revealed - Flash of Two Worlds Cont:The (Barry Allen) Flash arrives at the Garrick residence and meets an older Jay Garrick with his wife Joan (*). He tells them of how he knows Jay's secret identity, explaining that he is the Flash of an alternate (Earth One) universe. Jay confides in Barry that he was thinking of coming out of retirement due to a series of unusual crimes that have been plaguing Keystone City as of late. He shared his origin and all that and Jay and his wife listened carefully and both of them has keen interest in what Barry (The Flash) Allen has to say about it. SPECIAL NOTE(*) ... In reality is his former girlfriend now Joan Garrick - Her maiden name was Joan Williams. At the Keystone City Bank for example, a suprised teller was shocked when money (The Thinker) suddenly began floating out of her drawer. He further describes a robbery at Carmody's Jewel Salon where the crime was obscured by a thick (The Shade) cloud of pure darkness. Another mysterious theft involved an armored car that was ruptured by the sounds of strange (The Fiddler) music. Upon hearing this, Barry offers to help Jay solve these mysterious crimes. The history was made the first team up of Flashes of Two Worlds! Across Keystone City, three super-criminals (The Fiddler, The Thinker, and The Shade) gather together and boast about the success of their most recent schemes. The Thinker commits crimes by way of a hypnotic Thinking Cap. The Fiddler is able to generate destructive sound waves with his violin and the Shade uses a special cane to create blankets of darkness to conceal his actions. The one thing these three have in common is that they are all old foes of the Flash - Jay Garrick. Each of them goes off to commit their next robbery with unexpected results. To be continued Tomorrow AM

Finale of the FLASH OF TWO WORLDSNote to all: I will do Number 15 sometimes in the middle of next week. The Thinker goes to the Jarvis estate and uses his Thinking Cap to order the guard dogs to warn the Flash when he arrive. He then hypnotizes Jarvis's butler into relinquishing the valuable Neptune Cup to him. Jay arrives and is shocked when the dogs tell him that the Thinker is robbing the Neptune Cup. Jay speeds around the inside of the house, but he is unable to lay his hands on the Thinker. The Thinker is using his Thinking Cap to make himself appear to be in several places at once. When Jay finds the real Thinker he speeds after him, but the Thinker erects a wall of pure psychic energy that renders Jay unconscious upon impact. Meanwhile ... Barry scours the docks when he sees a yacht off in the river with thick clouds of black smoke emanating from it. He runs off to investigate, but falls victim to the Shade. The Shade thinks that this Flash is Jay Garrick in a different costume. The Shade escapes in a speedboat, and lays down a slick trail of oil that prevents Barry from chasing after him. Barry later meets up with other Flash at the Jarvis estate and Garrick tells him about the Thinker. Then the Fiddler rides down the street in his Fiddle Car and plays music from his violin. The sound waves shatter windows and cause a girder to fall from the top of a partially constructed skyscraper. A worker falls in the path of the girder, but fortunately, the Flashes arrive to save him. Jay pulls the man out of the way, while Barry deflects the falling girder. The Fiddler escapes during the melee and meets up with the Thinker and the Shade. Together they decide to rob the Keystone City Museum as their final crime in this caper. Both Flashes track the villains down, but the Fiddler uses his violin to hypnotize them into obeying his commands. For fun, he has them dance for him like puppets on a string. Then he has them steal jewels for him. As the crooks gather their bounty, they prepare to leave, but the Flashes spring into action and apprehend them. The Fiddler doesn't understand how they resisted his mental commands. Jay explains that while they were forced to do the Fiddler's bidding, there was no command that prevented them from trying to escape. While robbing jewels for them, they plugged their ears with small gems, which distorted the effects of the Fiddler's violin, enabling them to break free of his mental control. After the three crooks are arrested, The two Flashes say goodbye to one another and Barry invites Jay to visit his Earth some time. He then vibrates at super-speed and returns to his proper world. He then visits Iris West at Picture Newsand explains to her why he disappeared, before deciding to visit Gardner Fox and tell him the story — so Fox can write it up in a comic book. THE END
