Hm, I didn't know readers voted to have them killed originally. Doom Patrol is one of those concepts that I've always found very interesting but haven't read all that much about so far. I'm not sure how much validity there is to the rumors surrounding whether the original Patrol was a ripoff of the original X-Men or vice versa. I've always heard that the only quality runs are by Drake and Morrison. I grew to like them during their appearance in the Teen Titans One Year Later arc which began around #34. Beast Boy quits the Titans to go help out the Patrol and I really liked how Geoff Johns portrayed them and their history. I've read the first trade of Morrison's acclaimed run and it was definitely interesting (if I recall correctly, Drake had commented that of all the (then) portrayals since his, Morrison has come the closest to what he considers to be proper for the team). I keep meaning to check out Byrne's short run from '04 while I did read some of Giffen & DeMatteis's run from '09 (which had that back-up feature of the Metal Men you mentioned in their entry). I do have the first Showcase edition of Drake's run which has been sitting upon my to-read pile for quite some time. Overall, I like all the members, probably Robotman and Negative Man the most. As a concept, the tragedy of Cliff is dramatic while I like the visuals of Negative Man. I never really think of Logan as a member of the Patrol though, mainly due to most of my reading of him has been with the Titans. Speaking of the Titans, my favorite Patrol that I've read so far has been the 3-part epic in New Teen Titans #13-16 by Wolfman and Perez.

There wasn't a vote to kill the Doom Patrol. The book was cancelled due to poor sales. The Editor "appeared" in the last story to tell the readers that if enough of them wrote in then the the team could be revived. What seems more likely is that they were hoping for a sales bump that would let them bring back the feature. That obviously didn't happen.

The DP is one of DC's coolest concepts. I've bought and liked all the versions and am extremely excited by Young Animal's version, streamlining all those versions into the current one.
Still think a DP movie, rated R, would be completely mental.

One thing that I hate about Comic Books is a plethora of misunderstanding and discussion at the Comic Book Stores that I go to and that's one of the reasons why I get mislead on things - like the vote whether to kill the Doom Patrol or not. From now on, I have to be extra careful of what I post and I'm getting more and more frustrated when people here tells me something different and I'm not arguing with you Slam ... but I'm getting mixed signals about what I read and hear. Thanks for clearing that up!

Thanks for clearing that up! No worries Mech! I'm sure it is because us older guys get a little mixed up with the useless trivia we have in our brains. I know I have started to mix some things up memory wise. But that's what great about this forum. I like that you can get some things clarified here.
BTW I love your offbeat DC heroes choices. I too like DC's Silver Age stuff that was a bit different like the DP, Challengers, Metal Men, Sea Devils, Metamorpho.

Thanks for clearing that up! Mech at my LCS I actually enjoy the discussions about stuff that we all get mixed up about. Often I come here to find the answer to "win" the argument. I actually enjoy the social aspect at my LCS as much as getting my weekly "fix" of new comics. I realize I am lucky to have a great LCS where the social interaction is great.

#44 Green Goblin - Marvel Comic Super Villain For the RecordLater on I will discuss the Green Goblin in two Spider-Man Movies - the one in 2002 and the 2nd one in 2007. I will not discuss the 2014 Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man 2 of which I did not see at all. This is my favorite picture of the Green Goblin here. Origin of the Green GoblinFrom WikipediaThe first and most well known incarnation is Norman Osborn, who was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in The Amazing Spider-Man #14. My Personal Thoughts One of the most formidable super-villain that Spider-Man ever face and by far the most craftiest and terrorizing of them all and I consider him one of the most evilest of all time and the colors used by the Green Goblin made him so well known and that's made him very unique and will stand the test of time as the most popular Spider-Man Villain of all time. I consider him the Joker to Batman and that's how prominent he really is. Harry Osborn is the Green Goblin and it's one of the better creations that Stan Lee and Steve Dilko ever created and they worked in all the details regarding him and made him a very personal Super Villain to Spider-Man's Peter Parker. I wished that Steve Dilko had stayed on after Spider-Man #39 and having said that it's puts the damper on a lot of things and I was stunned of how diabolical he was when he killed Gwen Stacy later on in Spider-Man #121-122 and that's one of the most the most talked about story of all time. Later on I will share more about him and how he created the Goblin Glider, the Pumpkin (see diagram below) Bombs, and his bags of "tricks" that made him very difficult to defeat and that's why he is the most formidable adversaries that Spider-Man ever faced.

Rita Farr - Elastic Girl... She was totally unreal to me and I find her to be quite impressive and that's the main reason that she reminded me of Giant-Man, Elongated Man, Mr. Fantastic, and others like them and she was always on the attack using her great size and stature to help the Doom Patrol in every way possible. Mecha, I'm catching up on this thread so I hope you don't mind if I go back to Elasti-Girl (later known as Elasti-Woman) for a minute. I read the Doom Patrol Showcase volumes a few years ago and Rita became one of my favorite characters. She was resourceful and versatile not to mention powerful, and I loved how she could both shrink and grow (in fact she preceded the whole "Ant-Man becoming Giant-Man" thing by a few months). Great thread -- love the choices and everyone's comments.
