I was looking thru my comics today & realized I really enjoyed stories that developed a friendship between 2 heroes. I could think of Batman & Superman/Green Arrow & Green Lantern/The Atom & Hawkman/The Flash & Green Lantern/Blue Beetle & Booster Gold/Spider-Man & Daredevil/Power Man & Iron Fist/Capt America & the Falcon/Archie & Jughead...
Can anyone name some others?

Mr. Fantastic/The Thing
EDIT: Great friendship but to my knowledge they never served as a duo outside of the FF, so I don't know if you'd count it.

Spider-Man and Human Torch Beast and Wonder Man Thor and Hercules (although they fought each other almost as much as they were friends)
On the villain side, I always liked that Juggernaut and Black Tom Cassidy were actually friends and not just two guys working together to fight the X-Men.

A tumultuous relationship, but definitely one of the greats in comic book history IMO...Conan and Red Sonja.

One I can remember that never got off the ground was Nighthawk and Moon Knight when the latter was a guest star in I think the early issues of the David Anthony Kraft Defenders. No one ever picked up on it afterwards, but you could definitely see that was what Kraft had in mind.

Daredevil and the Black Widow Hawkeye and the Black Widow Captain America and the Falcon King Kull and Brule Flash and Elongated Man Barry Allen and Jay Garrick Clark Kent/Superboy and Pete Ross Good call on Kull and Brule, I should have thought of that one myself. DD and the Widow did occur to me, but I figured their romantic relationship set them apart from the strictly buddies kind of thing I assumed was intended here.

Are there many male/ female friendships that don't get romantic? Maybe Sgt. Rock and Mlle. Marie? Was Wolverine like a big brother to Kitty Pryde? GL and Black Canary wouldn't have been except for GA. Oh, another friendship was that between Hawkman and Adam Strange, who teamed up a couple of times.

The most obvious one I can think of is Modesty Blaise and Willie Garvin, if newspaper strips count. I think it's a cool idea that could be used more often. What about female/female buddies? there aren't enough of those either. Colleen Wing and Misty Knight, maybe? It's been so long since I read those early stories, I couldn't say, myself. DC has the Birds of Prey, I suppose. Orion and Lightray sometimes played those roles in Kirby's New Gods. And The Reject and Karkas had great potential in the Eternals.
