Episode 12 "Death in Heaven" was alright but I don't think it was as good as the previous episode. Loved Osgood's opening scene. Flying Cybermen now they are even more like Ironman. The Doctor being the president of Earth is kind of funny. Clara mentioned Jenny from The Doctor's Daughter. I think that's the first time she's been referenced since. Turning the dead into Cybermen is pretty diabolical. RIP Osgood. I liked seeing Cyberman Danny unmask. Glad Kate survived. I thought both of Danny's sacrifices were kind of touching. Looking forward to the Christmas special. "Permission to Squee!"

I liked this episode better than the first part. Sure, the plot still doesn't make a lot of sense, there are still questions about Missy, the Cybermen seem to be just pawns, and the whole bit about Gallifrey came out of nowhere and went right back.
But - the relationship between the Doctor and UNIT took a couple of neat turns. Flying Cybermen are cool, if Iron Man-esque. Loved the respect shown the Brigadier on the plane. Really liked the interaction between Missy and the Doctor, especially at the end when Missy reveals why she's done all this. Really liked Danny's sacrifices; made me like the character. We got to say good-bye to Clara (who I never liked) in a different way, with Clara and the Doctor lying to each other. And I lost it at the scene with the last Cyberman, as the Doctor realized who it was.
So - plot-wise, meh. Character-wise, it worked.
Not sure about the Doctor's visitor at the end, though. . .

This incarnation of the Doctor is now officially my favourite since the reboot.

The finale ended as a bit of a damp squib for me. Although the flying cybermen was awesome.
I still consider DOOMSDAY with both the daleks and cybermen as the best finale to date.

Watched "The Three Doctors" yesterday for the first time and really enjoyed it. Seeing the Second and Third Doctors interact was great. Unfortunately Hartnell only appears a few times on screen because of health reasons but he steals every scene he's in. The Brigadier's reaction to seeing the two Doctors was priceless. While some of the special effects don't hold up very well I really liked Omega. He's easily one of classic Who's most memorable villains. I though the design of Omega's helmet was pretty cool. The reveal that his physical body had already been destroyed was excellent and when he took off his helmet to reveal nothing there was a really cool visual. This was also my first exposure to Jo Grant who I found pretty likable.

"Married 4 times": I'm thinking Gallifrean wife, Marilyn Munroe, Queen Victoria and River Song? He turned the Aztec lady down... This story could nicely begin to connect the Brigadiers death in-show with that online comic tribute showing him somehow alive n the far future (for those of us who care about such things).

Also current writers think they're clever by having someone's first reaction to the TARDIS be something other than "It's bigger on the inside!". But, in "The Three Doctors", Sergeant Benton beats them to this by thirty years in more. All in all, this story is probably Benton's finest hour.

Finished watching season 13 over the past few weeks and overall I thought it was excellent. Really not a bad story in the bunch.
"Terror of the Zygons" was a solid story. The Loch Ness monster looked cheap but the Zygons and their sets were better. The tongue-like tentacle design of the Zygons themselves is pretty disgusting. Pity we don't see the Zygons again on TV until the 50th Anniversary special "Day of the Doctor".
"Planet of Evil" I couldn't find copies of the second and third parts of this but it's basically Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is space.
"Pyramids of Mars" is probably the classic Who story I've rewatched the most. It's excellent from beginning to end. Despite the robot Mummies looking a bit clunky Sutekh is one of the better villains of the classic series.
"The Android Invasion" The androids were creepy and the Kraals were kind of interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing them return to the new series. Plus Doctor doppelgangers are always fun.
"The Brain of Morbius" A Frankenstein-esque story with a talking brain in a jar. If that doesn't immediately sell this story to you I don't know what else will.
"The Seeds of Doom" starts off similar to The Thing complete with Antarctic base. The mood is creepy throughout and I find the plant life turned hostile theme to be pretty unsettling. I usually dislike the longer stories this being six parts it still managed to hold my attention. Tony Beckley gave a great performance as the villain Harrison Chase an the giant Krynoid attacking the house was a really cool visual.

Turn around, Doctor. (Scorby is behind the door, holding a pistol. The Doctor does a full 360 turn.) SCORBY: Facing this way. DOCTOR: Have we annoyed you or something? SCORBY: Shut up. Okay, start talking. DOCTOR: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had perfect pitch. SCORBY: What happened to him? DOCTOR: Who, Wolfgang Amadeus? Oh, him. Oh, he died." "SCORBY: Okay, that'll do. Watch the door. Now then, Doctor, let's have the truth. Where's the plant that came out of the pod? DOCTOR: That grew in the bed that was part of the garden close to the house that Jack SARAH: Jack built. SCORBY: I'm not a patient man, Doctor. DOCTOR: Well, your candour does you credit." "MOBERLEY: We were expecting someone much older. DOCTOR: I'm only seven hundred and forty nine. I used to be even younger. "

I thought we were done with Clara (got to dislike her in the last few episodes) but there she is in the Christmas episode. Maybe we'll get closure and a new companion?
I'll give Peter Capaldi's first season a Grade B.

By the way, Into The Dalek and Dark Water were my 2 favourite episodes this season. Not surprisingly, they feature the Doctor's 2 best known foes.
Conspicuously absent were the weeping angels, who in my opinion are the best addition to the Doctor Who universe in a long time.
